I bought three shades of Jordana matte lipstick. I have already reviewed the shades “Cinnamon Toast” and “Tiramisu” and this article is the review of the third shade “Red Velvet”. I love to wear liquid lipsticks even though they can be a tad uncomfortable for dry skin people like me and I am on constant look out for good quality liquid lipsticks. I tried three different shades from this range by Jordana and they failed to swoop me off my feet and I will continue my search. They are not the worst, but they are still below satisfactory and Jordana needs to gear up its game to compete with other better options in the market.

My Experience with Jordana Sweet Cream Matte Liquid Lip Color Red Velvet:
This liquid lipstick comes in 18 shades and they all vary from reds to nudes to corals with warm and cool tones, hence there is at least one shade for all of us. Like I mentioned in the previous reviews, the size of the tube is smaller than most of the liquid lipsticks we see in the market, but since most of us do not finish lip products, hence I do not see this as a disadvantage.
The packaging of this liquid lipstick is like most of the liquid lipstick tubes we see in makeup aisle. The product comes in a transparent, plastic tube through which we can see the color of the lipstick and it has a twist-up cap. The cap holds a usual doe-foot applicator which makes application easier, especially around the corner of the lips and the outline.
The shade name of this product is “Red Velvet” and most of us buy it thinking that it would be the usual red with cool undertones, but that would be a wrong assumption. The color of this particular shade is cool toned plum with red in it and upon application, it looks more like pink than red – the color an actual red velvet cake looks like. Hence, Jordana is not deceiving us and is true to the shade name, but someone who has not consumed red velvet cake will be at a disadvantage. It will look equally good on both dark and light skin tones. I first tried it on my bare lips without any lip balm on. The applicator helped me reach the corner of my lips well and outline my lips neatly. It did not give complete opacity in the first application, but it was not too disappointing as well, especially for the money paid. With the second coat, I achieved complete coverage and a neat finish.
The most annoying part of this product is the extremely strong and pungent fragrance, which to be precise smells more like bad odor than a soothing aroma. The fragrance does linger for a while and it made me feel that I wore some cheap, substandard product on my lips. The fragrance of this shade is stronger than the other two shades I reviewed and was so unbearable for me that I had to remove it after a few hours.
Pros of Jordana Sweet Cream Matte Liquid Lip Color Red Velvet:
- It is an affordable liquid lipstick that comes in 18 different shades.
- There is at least one shade for each one of us.
- The packaging is cheap especially for the money paid.
- Gives good coverage in 2 coats.
- Lasts well till we have a greasy meal.
- Does not dry out lips like other lip products.
Cons of Jordana Sweet Cream Matte Liquid Lip Color Red Velvet:
- Contains very strong fragrance which would mean high alcohol content and is off putting for me – it is so strong that I could not wear it for more than a few hours, at best.
- One coat is not enough to get full coverage – especially dark shade did not give opacity in one go.
- Doesn’t last during meals – greasy meals will wipe it right away.
- Needs a lip balm underneath for comfortable wear.

Do I Recommend Jordana Sweet Cream Matte Liquid Lip Color Red Velvet?
This product is a good effort by Jordana to provide consumers with a more affordable liquid lipstick options, but this particular shade has an unpleasant aroma and makes it feel cheap and rather harmful for lips.
