Jouer came into my radar last year with their wonderful matte liquid lipstick. They then launched powder highlighter, which was an instant hit with the beauty community. Today, I will be reviewing on of their best-selling highlighter shades – “Citrine.” So, let’s see how this Citrine highlighter fared for me:

My Experience with Jouer Cosmetics Powder Highlighter Citrine:
Packaging: The packaging of the Jouer Citrine Powder Highlighter is super sleek and high end. The highlighter comes in a metallic golden compact with stunning gold detailing on the sides and bottom. The compact has a magnetic closing. The front of the compact has the brand’s name – Jouer. The back specifies the name and the ingredient list. The highlighter is firmly pressed into the compact. The compact is very sturdy and lightweight. The pristine compact does get finger print mark very easily, so you need to clean it. Overall, the packaging is stunning and travel friendly.
Texture and Application: The Citrine highlighter has a smooth and creamy finish to it. It feels like butter when you swatch it. The highlighter is silky smooth to touch and is not chalky. There is no powder kick off. A flat brush or a fan brush gives a good coverage. This highlight when blended gives a nice soft glow which is more natural then intense. These highlighters goes on smoothly on the skin due to their cream to powder finish.
Pigmentation and Coverage: The highlighter is pigmented. You do have to build it up if you want an intense glow. If your goal is to get a natural glow, then this is perfect. This highlighter is perfect to wear for your everyday use.
Shade and Finish: “Citrine” is described as a “shimmering gold” shade. It is indeed a beautiful soft gold highlighter. The highlighter contains ultra-fine pearls and luminescent pigments which is not too shimmery or glittery. The glitter is finely milled. This highlighter gives a beautiful sheen to the skin. It does not emphasise any pores or fine lines on my skin. It can be used on tops of the cheekbones, bridge of the nose and corner of the eyes to give a naturally luminous skin. There is no duochrome effect. It has a super lightweight and blend-able formula that imparts a smooth effect and feels like nothing on the skin. This shade of highlighter will suit Indian skin tone perfectly.
Staying Power: The staying power is good. It stays on for around 7 hours without the need to reapply. On a side note, Jouer Powder highlighters contain only 4.5 gm of product which is less compared to other highlighters when comparing the cost/gm. However, I have never emptied any of my highlighter, so technically it doesn’t matter (“highlighter junkie” reasoning :P)
