Looks like summers have hit Mumbai again. It’s slightly chilly in the mornings but as the clock ticks 8, the sun starts to shine brightly. I miss the winters already. Anyway, to combat the harsh heat, I’ve purchased this toner which claims to defend the sun. Sounds funny, right? Let’s see how this one fares.
INR 155 for 100 ml
My Experience with Jovees Sun Defence Neem Skin Toner:
This toner comes in a plastic bottle which feels slightly flimsy. It is transparent and comes with a nozzle to spray the toner. The transparent plastic cap it comes with is pretty useless because it doesn’t fit perfectly. It can come undone when kept in a bag, and for that reason it isn’t safe for travelling. I actually wanted to keep it in my makeup bag that I use, but it can’t be used and I’m slightly disappointed. The backside has the details about the toner like how to use it, ingredients, price and related stuff.
I read the active ingredients and I was impressed that it has carrots and cumin seeds etc. The toner is green coloured liquid and smells very herbal-y. I kind of like the fragrance and it mainly smells of neem. It smells fresh and it lingers on. The fragrance isn’t that strong to me. The nozzle sprays sufficient amount of the liquid but you need 3-4 spritz to cover up the entire face and neck region. I don’t mind that. The toner feels good and refreshing on the skin especially when you’ve been out the in sun and you use this, it really helps you cool down. I let mine stay on for 5-10 minutes and then dab the excess with a napkin or cotton ball depending on whatever I have on hand.
It makes my skin feel clean after using this, but really I don’t know how this is a ‘sun defence toner’. I am sure everyone uses a sunscreen while going out in the sun and by just using this toner, you can’t protect your skin from getting tanned. So I use both, the sunscreen and the toner, to combat tanning. My skin gets tanned very quickly, hence I use a heavy duty sunscreen, and this toner alone won’t help. So I suggest you all do the same.
It does remove impurities from the skin and cleanses the pores as well. Sometimes I use this toner and sometimes I use my rose toner. I’d also suggest you keep this in the refrigerator because it would feel like heaven when you spray this on your face after a tiring day at work/college.
Summing up the pros and cons,
Pros of Jovees Sun Defence Neem Skin Toner:
• Nozzle sprays good amount of toner
• Smells refreshing
• Makes the skin look fresh and clean
• Impressive ingredients list
• Always on discount
Cons of Jovees Sun Defence Neem Skin Toner:
• Not travel friendly
• Can’t rely solely on this product to prevent the skin from getting tanned
Overall, I really like this toner and hence I would recommend this to you all. I would repurchase this one too!
