With the constant flow of new makeup in the market, very few truly catch the eye and make you say – “I have to have it.” This was the case when I first saw Juvias Place eyeshadow palette. Everything about them spoke to me right away, from the packaging to the color scheme, and everything in between – it was indeed love at first sight! So much that one of their palettes “The Masquerade” palette even made it to my 2016 favorites post. I wish I could have included all 3 of their palettes in that post, but I was still in the process of testing out the other two and now I can say that if I were to rewrite that post, these palettes would make the cut as well 🙂 Read on to know more about the Juvias Place Nubian 2 Palette.

My Experience with Juvia’s Place Nubian 2nd Edition Palette:
Packaging: I love the packaging on the Juvias Place palettes. Each palette follows a theme and the Nubian 2 is inspired by the African empire in old Egypt. The front and the inside depicts a portrait illustration of a gorgeous Egyptian woman. The palette has a secure magnetic closure. It does lack a mirror which I don’t mind as I hardly use them anyway. The eyeshadow pans in this palette are huge. You get so much product that you would not hit pan for a long long time hence it is a great investment to make.
Texture and Pigmentation: I am truly impressed with the texture of these eyeshadows. They feel so incredibly smooth and creamy to the touch and perform as such. The mattes too don’t feel too powdery and almost have a silky feel to touch. Both the mattes and the shimmer perform incredibly and the metallic delivers 100% opaque color in a single layer. These shadows were designed to show up with full intensity on women of color and there is no doubt that these will pack a punch. There is not a weak performing shadow in this entire palette. They adhere to the lid well without causing much fallout.
Shades: No doubt about it that I adore the color scheme of this palette. It has 4 mattes and 8 shimmer shades. Unlike the Masquerade palette, this one has more jewel tone shades to act as pops of color while there are also vital matte transition/crease shades to pull a look together. Let’s breakdown each shade, shall we 🙂
Morocco: This is a very warm matte reddish orange. If you know me, you will know that shades like these make my heart flutter. I would use this shade non-stop for days if I didn’t exert some physical self control.
Madagascar: This is versatile matte milk chocolate brown. Great crease shade, works with any look.
Sheba: A super metallic cool-toned brown with a hint of khakhi green. Super-duper creamy with tiny specks of glitter.
Yaa: A metallic reddish copper shade. Another pretty shade to use all over the lid.
Jezebel: A matte eggplant purple. This shade looks like royalty in a pan.
Zuri: A stunning metallic light gold champagne shade. Super reflective and looks amazing as an inner corner highlight.
Cleopatra: A metallic deep blue sapphire shade. Such a gorgeous shade packed all over the lid.
Nefertiti: A true 24 k gold shade. Gold lovers, calm your heart after seeing this one.
Nairobi: This shade is also gold but lighter and more brighter and more yellow toned than Cleopatra. Also, super pretty and as bright as the sun.
Leyla: A stunning metallic deep purple.
Kenya: A matte deep dark brown with hint of deep purple to it. Great to darken up the outer V or smudge on the lower lash line.
Egypt: An absolutely emerald green shade. This shade complements brown eyes so nicely. I adore this shade.
Staying Power: These shadows do not crease on me and lasts over 8 hours, but the point to note is that I always use a primer. always a primer.
Overall, I feel like my whole review was a rave, so to conclude, I will say that if you are a color lover, you cannot let this one pass. I love how indie brands/small companies can produce such high quality stuff and set the bar so high and yet keep the prices pocket friendly. I highly highly recommend this palette.
