Kama Ayurveda Pure Vetiver Water Review

By Raka Ganguli

Hello everybody!
I must pull the trigger on this post with the proclamation of being a phenomenal procrastinator, seriously, this post which was intended to be penned down quite a few full moons back, finally witnessed daylight as I shrugged off the lazy cloak. Also, I sincerely apologize to the beautiful queen bees, who might have gazed longingly at a bottle of this panacea, but pigeon-holed the idea of owning it due to the absence of a detailed review. With all that jargon being stated, let’s dig in!

Product Claims: The claims pertaining to this product can be traced from the image given below.

Price: INR 175 for 50 ml/1.7 fl oz. INR 645 for 200 ml/6.8 fl oz.

Availability: Kama Ayurveda has outlets across major metropolitan cities; also the products can be purchased from their official website.

Ingredients: (As sourced from the official Kama Ayurveda website)
Vetiveria zizanioides, also known as Vetiver, has roots that are bittersweet and aromatic in nature. The oil distilled from its roots is used in several cosmetic and aromatherapy products. It cures acne, dry skin, ageing skin, and skin irritation. Vetiver essential oil helps relax the body and mind.

My Experience with Kama Ayurveda Pure Vetiver Water Face and Body Mist:

Purpose: The product finds an extensive use as a freshening up agent but also boasts of its convention as a toner, in curing regular acne, skin irritation, sunburn, shrinking pores etc.

Packaging: The vetiver water is housed inside an amber coloured sturdy plastic bottle, which also supports a spray nozzle as the dispensing medium. The nozzle is very fine, so you can rest your mind in peace with amen of an even diffusion. The container bears an ornately designed graffiti, which donates an air of sophistication. Being travel friendly, it can be easily castled into a handbag and it is redundant to say that you will not feel embarrassed taking it out in public.

Smell: Honestly, I cannot vouch if the fragrance is synonymous with the smell of pure vetiver, on account of never having caught a whiff of the original scent, but it has a distinctive earthy aroma, the type of perfume that you might exhale while taking a walk down freshly saturated tracks, after the first rain of the season. The fragrance duplicates as a sedative, so it plays the role of a Good Samaritan on those long, wide-awake nights.

Colour and Texture: Detectable as a colourless, non-greasy, fine watery mist.

Appearance on skin: Upon application, it resembles achromatic droplets of water, which you can either pat with your fingers to aid in faster absorption or let it dry on its own. Usually, it takes around a minute to completely evaporate.

Suitability: The face mist is appropriate for all skin types under (and beyond) the sun and also benefits individuals from a diverse maturity.

Durability: I resorted to the 50 ml bottle and applied it lavishly twice a day which installs the lastingness to around a week. I hope the bigger version fares better, or else our wallets will be doused in wretchedness.

My Feelings and Experience: I was strolling around aimlessly in the Kama Ayurveda store, when this sparkler caught my eye, and I was instantly tantalized into purchasing it (I know, quite an impulsive shopper that way, but aren’t we all?). I still had the Forest Essentials Rosewater in my vanity, but the diversion from the regular rosewater mist was what caught me off guard. This face mist cools down the epidermal temperature (particularly useful when you return home with the gift of a sunburn), and it also contributed in healing my heat rash (an antiseptic, that way).

Hot summer days are unendurable without this gem and my peers witness me spraying this on my face, almost throughout the day (or at least, when I feel like I need a quick pick-me-up). It soothes the skin, cures minor irritations and promotes an overall air of tranquility. Thankfully, I do not yet have to fiddle with a pore minimizer in the mornings, so I cannot asseverate if it will solve the issue of open pores but there is a slight voice in my head that gives an assurance of the capability.

If you are looking for a non-greasy, but dewy feel to your complexion, definitely consider this baby. It’s now a habit to spray the mist just before hitting the sack (helps with sleep, also I wake up with an ethereal glow). The fragrance itself is an incentive, which sparks my flight of fancy as a royal of the bygone era, being pampered by the ladies-in-waiting in her chamber (the visuals are often snapped by an angry mom).

Pros of Kama Ayurveda Pure Vetiver Water Face Mist:

• Sturdy packaging, unlikely to snap or spill the contents.
• Imperial and sophisticated presentation.
• Transparent bottle, helps in measuring amount of product left.
• Light, non-greasy mist, evaporates quickly. Great as a makeup setting spray, or a midday skin feed.
• Gives a glow sans the need to touch up with a blotting paper.
• Soothes the skin; cures skin rashes, irritations, and occasional eruptions, has a cooling effect upon application.
• Balances all kinds of skin, particularly beneficial for sensitive skin.
• Efficient in reducing sunburn.
• Regular usage improves skin clarity.
• Captivating fragrance, acts as a tranquilizer.

Cons of Kama Ayurveda Pure Vetiver Water Face Mist:

• Generous consumption reduces the durability and frequent purchasing is required, which is not exactly practical considering the price is a teeny bit on the higher side.

IMBB Rating: 4.8/5 (0.2 points lessened due to the mentioned con)

Will I Recommend and Repurchase Kama Ayurveda Pure Vetiver Water?
I conclusively urge everyone to get hold of a bottle and examine for yourself. I stare in greedy glutton at this elixir as it has permanently gained a foothold in my dresser (at least, till I find something of an even higher variety). And speaking of repurchasing, the last time I estimated, there were about 9 empty bottles in my stash (no exaggeration). Need I say more?

My indebtedness towards all the folks who administered a crowning composure while inspecting this review (La! I know this wasn’t exactly short and sweet). I hope it somehow benefits you all in the near future.

  1. I love Kama Ayurveda’s rose water and now tempted to try this one too. Sounds like a very refreshing treat for summers. 🙂

  2. I thoroughly enjoyed your post Raka… You explained everything in dramatic ways. By the way, I am loving this too and my days never ended without spray my Kama Rose water and this man is trying to capture the place these days…

    1. Thanks a lot for the appreciation! This was my rudimentary review, so do let me know areas that require improvement. I am a canonical applicant of Kama facial mists now! 🙂

    1. I switch between the Forest Essentials rose water and the Kama vetiver water. Results: Happy, smiley skin! 🙂

  3. Hi..great review! Ive been reading so much about skin mists, but how does one make them work on top of makeup? Don’t they cause it to slide off, or disturb it?

    1. Hey Shruti, thanks a ton for the warm recognition! 🙂 Skin mists are usually housed in a bottle with a compact nozzle, so the spray comes out even, and very fine. Therefore, they won’t disturb the makeup. Skin mists are great saviors, a quick application on top of your makeup, or bare skin helps to revive the dull dermis. Also, if you spray from a distance, the mist is applied evenly. Happy misting! 🙂

  4. Hey Raka ! Finally having you here feels so good ^_^ your review was so elaborate and informative and you have convinced so many to try the mist babe :-*
