Kama Ayurveda Rose and Jasmine Hair Conditioner Review

Hair Type : Thick, wavy, frizz-prone, medium length

This one happens to be my first conditioner by Kama, and I wasn’t expecting anything from it except ‘deep conditioning’ which is one of its main claims.

My Experience with Kama Ayurveda Rose and Jasmine Hair Conditioner:

The cleanser and conditioner both have the same packaging – sturdy, see-through and travel friendly. But identifying the one you need (if you have both) becomes a little difficult this way; I know, not a major con. Other than that, the brown bottle has every detail about the product on the stickers. The pump dispenser works well too.

name

This is a very lightweight conditioner that spreads easily on the hair. It appears off-white and has a pearly finish. It is easy to rinse this conditioner off as it doesn’t require much efforts or water. I bought this for two reasons – first, I was getting the shampoo also and second, it is an SLES & Paraben free formulation. Even though spreading this on hair is easy, I need to atleast 10-12 pumps to fully cover my hair. This could just be my case for I anyway like to use a lot of conditioner.

claims

The conditioner detangles my hair in the shower, makes it soft and a little manageable too. Also, I like that it doesn’t weigh my hair down. But, that’s just about this conditioner! Even though it smells almost like other Rose and Jasmine products by Kama, I do not like the fragrance. I wanted to like this conditioner more but it turned out to be just an average one for me, and let me tell you why!

price

I want my conditioners to deeply condition my hair while adding shine and health. This one, well, it doesn’t really do any of these things. It is just an average conditioner with “good ingredients” in it. I find it overpriced for the performance. If you have not used many hair products, you will like it. But I have used many and have used better ones. If a conditioner cannot make my hair look better, I have to resort to hot tools, which ultimately damages my hair. So, what’s the point?

pump

Also, I cannot comment on how true ‘hair growth’ and ‘hair loss control’ claims are. I personally do not feel that conditioners alone can do these things. Hair growth depends on diet, genes, lifestyle, hair oils as per me, and not on conditioners. So overall I am not really impressed with this conditioner. Go for it only if you want to steer clear of harmful chemicals, and if you are lucky and your hair doesn’t show any tantrums.

Pros of Kama Ayurveda Rose and Jasmine Hair Conditioner:

• Packaging – sturdy, see-through, travel friendly
• SLES & Paraben free formulation
• Makes hair soft
• Detangles the hair

• Cruelty free brand

Cons of Kama Ayurveda Rose and Jasmine Hair Conditioner:

• Doesn’t deeply condition

• Just an ordinary conditioner
• Not sure how true hair growth and hair loss control claims are
• Seems overpriced for the performance (to me)

IMBB Rating:
3/5

Would I Repurchase Kama Ayurveda Rose and Jasmine Hair Conditioner?
It is such an average conditioner. I have definitely used better and my hair surely needs more nourishment and moisturisation than this. Hence I would not get it again.

  1. Hey Shikha..

    Thanks for the honest review!!

I too have wavy-curly, frizz-prone hair… I have started using sulfate-free and silicone-free hair products. The ingredients in this conditioner seem so alluring…no sulfates..no silicones..no parabens… How I wish it had better results to offer!! 🙁

I was eyeing this one…but now I will need to wait for a better Kama hair product it seems..

    1. Thank you, Divya. I also wanted this conditioner to work better for who doesn’t want to switch to products with not-so-harsh chemicals. 🙂 Great to hear that you too are going silicone and SLS free way. 🙂
