Kat Von D is a Mexican Tattoo artist and musician who has a line of makeup exclusive to Sephora. Her line of makeup is all about hiding tattoo or making an impression like a tattoo. 😛 Jokes apart all her makeup products are super pigmented, long lasting and worthy of their cost. Here, I am reviewing her Kat Von D Lock It pressed powder foundation in shade Medium – 57.
It is a thick circular black casing, which closes with a ‘click’ sound. There is rose design on its cover, all around the border and in the center, embossed initials of Kat Von D in silver is present. The design is quite artistic.
As we open the case there is a good sized mirror provided at the back of the cover. The case is divided in two parts. First part base has 9 gram of product embedded in the pan. The first base is in silver color and very luxurious-looking. The second part of the container has a sponge applicator. You can use it for application but I suggest using a powder brush. Sponge wastes a lot of the product. The back of the first silver base can be used as mirror too.
At the back, there is a black sticker on which the shade name weight details etc. are mentioned. The casing is pretty thick. The depth is about 1.2 inch making it look bulky.
$35 (approximately INR 2100)
Not available in India. Sorry, I could not find any other international shipping source too. Sephora India does not keep this line. Hope it will stock this brand soon.
This product has an amazing texture. It is very smooth and silky. The moment you apply it on your skin, you will get to know how smooth it is! There is no dryness in the texture. It does not dry the skin where it is applied. All the shades are matte. There is no amount of shimmer in them to give any kind of glow or sheen. There is no spillage from the product when brush is swirled. The power is blend-able and can be built up very easily. It transfers on my skin evenly. It did not form any blotches. The foundation is light on application, I did not see any cakey look, neither did I feel anything on my face.
Pigmentation is out of this world. If I was joking earlier about how Kat Von D products hide tattoos, you can now see it has been fulfilled. It can hide deep-colored scars. I applied it on my facial skin too. My redness and little blemishes were hidden instantly. This shade is a good match for my skin. Most of the shades have the right amount of beige undertones in them, which make them suitable for Indian skin tones.
Staying power is also good without a primer on my combination to dry skin, it holds up for about 8-9 hours, then it breaks down around lips and nose. But still no mud pool or blotchiness. With a primer, I get a10-12 hours wear time. It claims to last for 24 hours, but in my case I did not give it a try for 24 hours. Surely, it would not hold for that long but 12 hours is also not bad. Most of the events might need 12 hours coverage at the max!
Pros of Kat Von D Beauty Lock-It Tattoo Powder Foundation:
- Amazing pigmentation
- Good amount of product for the price
- Decent staying power
- Oil free matte finish
- Butter-like smooth texture
- Paraben free
Cons of Kat Von D Beauty Lock-It Tattoo Powder Foundation:
Would I recommend Kat Von D Beauty Lock-It Tattoo Powder Foundation?
Yes, I would definitely recommend this product because it is better than my MAC studio fix powder foundation. If you live in the U.S, please give it a try. It is an amazing product.
