Product Description:
A super-versatile, rich and creamy concealer with 24-hour wear and instant full coverage. Lock-It Concealer Crème does everything a traditional concealer does, and then some: it brightens the under eye area, covers blemishes, corrects discoloration, contours, and bakes. This next level formula applies smoothly and blends easily for a locked-down, smooth, even finish. With a wide array of shades, Lock-It Concealer Crème offers one of the most extensive shade ranges in concealer. Select the perfect under eye corrector and exact skin tone concealing shade with easy-to-navigate names that feature the undertone. The shade range even includes a pure white, White Out, for dramatic highlighting and mixing into other shades to create custom tones.  Loaded with complexion-brightening pigments and ultra-nourishing Hydra-Boost Complex, this formula is crease-proof and hydrating—ideal for the delicate under eye area. The artistry applicator was modelled after an artist’s paintbrush, with a tapered tip for precise corners and a wide base to efficiently coat larger areas. It is formulated without Parabens, Sulfates and Phthalates. This product is non-comedogenic. Lock-It Concealer Crème is completely free of animal-derived ingredients.

My Take on Kat Von D Lock It Concealer Creme:

Kat Von D Lock It Concealer Crème comes in the signature, gothic style packaging of Kat Von D. The tube and the black cardboard box, both carry the Gothic imprints along with all details about the product. The tube is slightly longer than what we usually handle with concealers and speaks of high quality. The packaging is classy, beautiful and sturdy. It is travel safe. I will cover the tear- drop shaped applicator here because the design of the doe-foot applicator makes the concealer special. It is uniquely and functionally designed to reach the under-eye corners or the tiniest places to cover with concealer. Totally love it; mess free and time saving tool indeed.

Taking about the extended shade range, Kat Von D offers an array of 21 shades, better than most of the high-end brands at the moment. The range comprises of C, W and N suffixes that represent Cool, Warm and Neutral undertones along with a white shade that can be used as a shade adjuster. Since my main area of concern is my terrible dark circles, I went for Medium 27 Warm (Special thanks to our writer Arpita Ghosh Mitra for assisting in shade selection).

Rightly named as crème concealer, the formula is rich, highly pigmented, creamy and effortlessly blend-able. Kat Von D has nailed this one. It is hydrating, so dry skin will love it because it will crease less. But still, contradictory to the claims, the concealer still creases to a certain extent, after 6-8 hours. The coverage is praise worthy; full coverage for blemishes, spots, scars and redness, but when it comes to bluish-grey area (under-eye dark circles). Kat Von D concealer doesn’t hide that tinge that peeps out from the medium-full coverage concealer layer. I still need an orange corrector to achieve a flawless look.

The coverage also depends on what tool you are working with. A concealer brush yields a coverage between mediu to full. Beauty Blender leads by providing full coverage but you need a decent amount of product to work with in this case. I don’t suggest blending with fingers in the case of Kat Von D Lock It Concealer Crème because it will take longer to result in a natural, air-brushed look.

The opaque coverage for imperfections holds up really well up to 8 hours easily. Actually, after 8 hours approximately, the formula settles into lines in the under-eye area and deludes as creasing. A simple brush or fingertip buffing takes care of the issue and voila! The best practice will be to moisturise the under eye area and blend it well with a Beauty Blender and finish with powder applied with a damp Beauty Blender (which can later be brushed off) for even a regular day.

The bottom line is that though the Kat Von D Lock It Concealer Crème is one of the best concealers at the moment, the heavy texture and the blending time required for flawless results may not make it your everyday choice.

Pros of Kat Von D Lock It Concealer Creme:

  • An opaque, full coverage concealer.
  • The formula is rich, creamy, pigmented and hydrating.
  • Blends to a natural, flawless and full coverage finish for imperfections.
  • Most of the shades lean towards brightening effect for baking technique.
  • A wide array of 21 shades for warm, cool and neutral undertones.
  • Covers imperfections in a flawless manner.
  • Suitable for every skin type.
  • Velvety satin finish.
  • Aesthetically beautiful packaging.
  • Thoughtfully designed applicator, tear drop shape with a broad base and pointed tip.

Cons of Kat Von D Lock It Concealer Creme:

  • It ultimately settles into fine lines under the eyes, so people with dry skin may have to go through the hassles and routine of baking, which makes it not “a quick, every morning” sort of a concealer.
  • Despite the opaque coverage, deep under eye dark circles still require an orange corrector to cover the greyish-bluish tinge.

IMBB Rating:
4.5/5
Would I Recommend/Repurchase Kat Von D Lock It Concealer Creme?
I definitely recommend Kat Von D Lock It Concealer Crème mainly because I like the richly pigmented and easy gliding, creamy formula. The coverage is wonderful and you can easily match your shade from the versatile range, but I won’t repurchase because my main area of concern is under-eye dark circles which still need an orange corrector. I will try the most-raved NARS Creamy Radiant Concealer next or something which combines an orange corrector with full coverage. Kat Von D Lock It Concealer Crème is a heavy-duty concealer and if you are looking for a concealer for events, this is the right selection because the results are worth it. The last tip for buyers is that the shades are lighter than what we expect; I am NC-25 and even Med 27 Warm is still lighter for my under eye dark circle though it works wonderfully for my imperfections when combined with foundation. So, if you are placing an order online, look carefully for swatches and choose over the darker shade than that your brain indicates to without the fear of going wrong 😛
