My Experience with Kat Von D Lolita Everlasting Liquid Lipstick:

Packaging:

The liquid lipstick comes in a long plastic tube. The shade of the lipstick is visible because of the transparent nature of the tube which is a plus point. The applicator is a long thin doe-foot applicator. The long length of the wand may cause inconvenience in the beginning if you are not used to a wand like this. But you do get the hang of using it quickly. I personally do not feel any difficulty while using this type of a wand.

Pigmentation and Shade:

The shade “Lolita” is probably the bestselling shade in the Kat von D liquid lipstick range. It is so popular that it is almost always sold out. It took me 2 weeks of constantly stalking Sephora’s website to finally be able to order it.

The shade is describes as “Dusty rose” on the website but that is completely inaccurate in my opinion. On my skin it looks more brown than pink; even in a certain light, I can see it has a very deep plum undertone. I initially had thought this would be perfect MLBB shade for me; but in a long wear liquid lipstick format, it is at least 2-3 shades deeper and darker than my natural lip color. I do not see this shade being universally flattering but if it suits you, it is guaranteed to be the most unique shade in your collection.

Consistency and Finish:

The liquid lipstick goes on very smooth and even on the lips. It dries down to a complete matte finish with no hint of shine, gloss or shimmer. These Kat Von D everlasting lipsticks are supposed to be similar or dupes of Lime Crime Velvetines and vice versa.

Even though they are drying, they do sit comfortably on the lips. They don’t feel heavy or settle in my fine lines but in order to always make matte lip colors like this looks flawless you should exfoliate which is what I always do. It is also very pigmented and gives opaque coverage in one swipe. You also need to be careful not to apply more than 1 coat of it because it will then crack and look uneven.

Staying Power:

This liquid lipstick literally is “Everlasting” It stays all day 8-10 hours without fading or smudging. It will not transfer on anything and is completely kiss-proof. It will survive drinking and snacks and even a full meal, provided it does have high a oil content. I need a oil-based makeup remover to get it off.

Fragrance:

It does not have any off-putting scent.

Overall I am highly impressed with the formula, finish and staying power of these lipsticks which also come at a highly affordable price tag of $19. I am a little bit iffy about the shade but with the right kind of makeup, I feel like I can pull this off. I do want to try other shades from this range. I will recommend this line of lipstick , but not this particular color.

• The shade is a bit difficult to pull off.
• The description of the shade on website is not accurate.
• Will accentuate your dry chapped lips, if they are not properly exfoliated.
