Hope you all are doing well. Kat Von D recently released a lot of new shades in her existing Everlasting Liquid lipstick range. I got 2 new shades from this range – “Double Dare” and today, I would be reviewing the other shade which is named “Mother.”
A long-wear, full-coverage liquid lipstick with a smooth, matte finish.
What it does:
Now with 16 additional, bold shades of Everlasting Liquid Lipstick for all-night wear, this innovative formula gives lips long-lasting wear and high-pigment color. Its creamy, color-rich formula glides over lips like a gloss but dries to a true matte finish. It’s infused with natural comfort-enhancing ingredients, including vitamin E and sunflower seed, so you can flaunt lasting matte color that leaves lips feeling comfortable. It is formulated without is formulated without parabens.
My Experience with Kat Von D Mother Everlasting Liquid Lipstick:
Packaging: This liquid lipstick comes in a long sleek tube with a doe-foot applicator which is thin and precise and gives ultimate control in application. I like how the tube is transparent hence you can easily find the shade you are looking for if you happen to own a few other shades from this range.
Texture/Consistency: This liquid lipstick is not too thick, not too thin. It is definitely creamier and not as runny as the Lime Crime Velvetines. I do find this formula very easily to apply and it goes on without streaking.
Shade/Finish: The shade “Mother” is described as a dusty mauve pink, but on me, it looks more like an everyday wearable medium pink shade. I do notice a hint of blue undertone to this pink shade, which could be the reason it looks a little on the cooler side. I do like the fact that it does not have a “neon” quality to it hence it retains its wearability and would be flattering on most skin tones, hence easy to pull off. This liquid lipstick applies creamy and dries down to a complete matte finish in less than a minute. There is no shimmer or shine. I do have a lot of fine lines on my lips and I do find this liquid lipstick accentuating those, but I find that issue with every liquid lipstick hence this is not a con exactly and even with that quality, I don’t think it looks too horrible.
Pigmentation: These liquid lipsticks go on with full opaque pigmentation in one swipe and will cover even the most pigmented lips. There is no need to build up layers and I find that by doing so, it will feel more drying hence I only stick to applying a single layer on my lips.
Feel on lips: This is one of the most comfortable liquid lipstick formulas and I do like this much more than the Lime Crime Velvetines (which feel a little powdery on my lips as the day wears on). Though this too feels drying like every liquid lipstick feels on my dry lips; though these don’t seem to suck every hint of moisture away. As with all liquid lipsticks, these will look most flattering if your lips are well exfoliated and moisturized prior to application.
Tip: I find using a hydrating serum is a good alternative to use in place of a lip balm especially when using these super matte formula lipsticks as the serum will completely get absorbed into the skin and there will not be any greasiness left behind which could impart the performance of these lipsticks.
Staying Power: These everlasting liquid lipsticks are truly long wearing. I can get 7-8 hours of wear easily which is my whole day of wearing makeup with little to no fading. It is completely transfer-proof and kissproof. It will survive through multiple snack and drink breaks and even a whole meal also provided your meal is not oily. If you are eating anything that has oil in it, the product on your lips would start to break down and then transfer and smear. At this point, I find it is usually best to wipe off and reapply, just to be on the safe side, and not have lipstick all over me.
Fragrance: There is a very faint makeup scent to these which fade immediately upon application.
Overall, I do really enjoy these products by Kat Von D and will totally recommend them. Though I do love the shade “Double Dare,” this shade is a close second. This liquid lipstick is one of the most comfortable long-wearing formulas I have used and they have brilliant pigmentation and staying power. Hence, they get two thumbs up from me.
