Yesterday, I reviewed the Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour kit ; today’s review will on the Shade + Light Contour brush. Both these products are sold separately but are designed to be used together to get the best results.
About The Product:
A dual-ended brush designed that is ergonomically designed with an angled end for contouring, a tapered dome end for highlighting—all encased within a sleek protective case.
What it does:
Experience the transformative power of contouring with this advanced multipurpose brush. Specially designed by Kat Von D to be paired with the Shade & Light Contour Palette, this brush’s powerful two-in-one design combines density of a contouring brush with the tapered accuracy of a highlighting brush to deliver ultimate precision and versatility. Glide the angled end along the hollows of your cheeks and temples for effortless sculpting; guide the tapered dome end along desired areas to enhance and illuminate features. Artfully constructed with super soft, white-tipped synthetic bristles on both ends, its gradient brush hairs expertly pick up and diffuse high-pigment powders for seamless blending. This ultimate contouring tool comes stored in a beautifully encased within a coffin-shaped case to keep your shading tool protected and perfect for on the go.
My Experience with Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Brush:
I absolutely love how beautifully this brush comes packaging. It comes in its own container which is plastic and not that sturdy; it will dent with something heavy is placed on top of it but nevertheless it is still very handy is storing and travelling with this brush. Even though I love the functionality of dual ended brushes, I always find them difficult to store as you cannot store them standing like your other brush. I really appreciate that Kat Von D thought through this and provided a classy glossy black case (which kind of looks like a coffin, so Kat Von D who is always sticking to her dark themes..!!)
The bristles are synthetic and are very soft. They do not scratch the skin. Both ends of the brush are dense but the bristles are not tightly packed hence you can easily disperse powder on your skin without messing up your foundation base underneath.
The Light end is the perfect size to get under the eye to set the concealer as well as to highlight the top of your cheeks and anywhere else you would place a highlighter. It does not place too much product in one go hence you do not end up looking cakey or too powdery.
The shade end is cut slanted but it still had a dome to it. It fits perfectly in the hollows of my cheek. I can place contour powder by stippling the powder to get heavy application and then buff in circular motions to blend it out. This brush is a bit big to contour the nose with. It also applied product easily under the chin and jaw effortlessly.
The handle itself is very lightweight and feels comfortable in hand.
Overall I love this brush very much. This one brush has made contouring and highlighting super easy to do without fumbling around with millions of brushes. This is also a very handy travel-friendly brush and I know for sure I will take this brush with me on my vacations.
It is on the pricey side but you do get 2 brushes in 1. I highly recommend this especially if you are beginner in makeup and don’t have a lot of idea about what brushes to use to contour/highlight.
Pros of Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Brush:
• Very soft bristles
• Synthetic cruelty free bristles
• 2 Brushes in 1
• Comes in its own case
• Not too dense hence does not mess up makeup base underneath.
• Perfect size.
• Does not shed and washes easily.
Cons of Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Brush:
• A bit on the expensive side which I cannot justify even for a good quality brush like this.
