Hello friends,

I am here with a review on Kate Somerville Dilo Oil Restorative Treatment.  I had picked up a few serums from Kate Somerville among which I liked this product a lot. Since prevention is better than cure (for wrinkles), I have been using serums very diligently and I have found this oil doing good justice to my skin. Let me go ahead and share my experience with you.

Packaging:

The oil comes in a pale green bottle with a metallic sheen to it with a dispenser dropper. It has a side panel with a small transparent column where you can see how much of the serum is still available for use. The bottle is very travel friendly and sturdy. The dilo oil itself does not have a lot of greasiness that an oil would regularly have. Instead it is a pale golden-colored liquid with light viscous texture.  However, the dropper is not a very good feature of this packaging. Instead of pouring the content in drops, when you press the dropper button, the entire content spills out. So, I have to careful with the amount that I need to use every time.

What is Dilo Oil in Kate Somerville Dilo Oil Restorative Treatment?

Now, before I go ahead with the review, you would want to know what is dilo oil? Dilo oil is another name for Tamanu oil which has been covered here on IMBB.

Reading about the benefits of Tamanu oil, you would wonder whether it’s more easier to just pick the oil instead of picking Kate Somerville Dilo Oil Restorative Treatment.  But this product has a lot more to offer than only dilo oil. Along with dilo oil from Fiji, it is further fortified with omegas 3,6,9. It also has marine and pumpkin seed extracts. It also contains antioxidants like rice bran and rosemary leaf.

My Experience with Kate Somerville Dilo Oil Restorative Treatment:

I shared with you earlier how I had not had a good experience with Kate Somerville Quench Hydrating Serum. Comparatively, I have really liked this product a lot.  Since I have dry skin, I need 4-5 drops to blend into my face and also in the neck area.  In the morning, instead of using the oil on its own, I add 2-3 drops to my Khadi saffron cream. This makes my face stay hydrated for longer hours in the current winters.

For the night care skin routine, I use the oil on its own. It provides me with very good moisturization throughout the night. When I wake up the next day, my skin feels very hydrated. For oily skin, I would recommend a patch test and I think they would need only 2-3 drops to use on their face. Also for sensitive skin, they should verify that they are not sensitive to any ingredients.

It spreads very quickly on the face. Though it does not get completely absorbed in the skin, but it does not feel that you have too much oil on your face that you would want to wipe off. I have found my skin texture to be better.

The oil is labeled to be restorative in nature. Thankfully, I do not have any acne scars where I could see the marks healing. However, in general, I felt my skin to have smaller pores on the forehead. The sun spots on my skin looked a bit lighter though I did not see them fade away completely. My skin feels healthier and more nourished.

Since a very tiny amount is required to blend on the face, this product is going to last me for a very long time. The fragrance is mildly medicinal but fades away almost very soon after application. The oil feels like a light veil on my skin. Compared to the TBS Moringa Beautifying Oil that I had used earlier, I found this oil to be little thicker in consistency.

Pros of Kate Somerville Dilo Oil Restorative Treatment:

  • Provides good hydration to dry skin.
  • Need only 4-5 drops to cover the entire face and neck region.
  • The oily layer left on the skin provides good protective layer on the skin.
  • Suitable for winter season and dry regions.
  • Skin texture is better with continuous use.
  • Found it to be more suitable for night time use.
  • Small quantity is required so product would last for longer duration.

Cons of Kate Somerville Dilo Oil Restorative Treatment:

  • Price is very high.
  • Oily skin and sensitive skin should do an initial patch test.
  • Dropper does not dispense amount correctly.

IMBB Rating:

4/5, the price is the only drawback majorly.

Would I Repurchase Kate Somerville Dilo Oil Restorative Treatment?

Yes, I would buy this product again as I am finding it useful for my dry skin during the winters.  However, I also want to use only tamanu oil also on my face and see how much difference it has on my facial skin.
