I am back with a Kate product! When I picked it up, I didn’t think very highly of it. I mean, it was just a lipstick, right? It used to be my HG lipstick, but now have I changed my mind. So, let’s get on with it, shall we?

My Experience with Kate Tokyo PK-17 Rouge HG Lipstick:
Packaging:
The lipstick comes in a very minimalistic rectangular design that has 4 square corners. It clicks open and shut and is secure. The tube has vertical lines running through it so it does not slip and fall from the hands during application. I recommend it for travel purpose as it has not got opened on its own even once. There is 2.4 grams of product in the tube.
Shade:
There are 15 shades in the collection and I got the shade PK-17. The HG in the product name stands for High Glam. This is my favourite nude lipstick so far. The shade is a true rosy-pink. For medium-tan to deep skin tones it is both, the perfect nude and the my-lips-but-better shade. It is as close as I will ever come to absolute nude lip perfection.
Blendability/Texture:
The lipstick is very creamy and moisturising, and spreads on the lips very well. Since it is so lightweight on the lips, it is not uncomfortable at all. It leaves the lips very shiny like a lip gloss. It is a lip balm-lipstick-lip gloss all-in-one product. Rather, it is a moisturising lip gloss in a lipstick packaging.
Pigmentation:
Since this lipstick has a lot of shine, it is not very pigmented (as opposed to mattes, which generally have better pigmentation). So, you have to go over the lips twice or thrice or maybe more to get opacity. This is probably the most annoying aspect of the product, but I overlook it because of the beauty of the shade.
Staying power:
Because it is so creamy, it does not stay on for long. It disappears when you eat or drink and I find myself reapplying it every few hours. But, when it disappears, it disappears evenly. Without any reapplication, it lasts only a couple of hours on me. I don’t find the need to layer any product underneath or on top because this is moisturising enough.
Does it settle into the fine lines of the lips?
No, it does not. But, it will cling on to the flakes on the lips if you have not exfoliated them.
Use:
Since this is such a neutral colour and in fact, a nude colour for me, I can pair it with any eye look and it will still look very pulled together. I use a lip liner to prolong the wear time of the product.
It needs to be noted that the price on the packet says ¥1400 and I bought my first tube for ¥1200 about 4-6 months back, and now they have reduced the price further to ¥982.

• Have to go over the lips a few times to get full opacity.

Would I Repurchase Kate Tokyo PK-17 Rouge HG Lipstick?
While it is a gorgeous shade (this is my second tube), I am trying to dupe the shade with other brands such as MAC that have better pigmentation and staying power.
Would I Recommend Kate Tokyo PK-17 Rouge HG Lipstick?
If you like sheer lip gloss type products (which typically don’t have great staying power anyway), then only give this one a go.
