Keep These 7 Things Away From Your Face

Hello, IMBBians!

DIYs have become a part of our routine because they beautify our skin and hair without any side effects. Whether it is hair fall, dry hair, pimples, pimple scars, tanning or dry lips; everything can be treated using home remedies. However, your facial skin is considerably softer than the other parts of your body, so you should always keep these 7 things away from your face.

Keep Away From Face

1. Lemon Juice:

Rich in vitamin C, lemon is an effective ingredient to be used in hair or skin care DIYs. Although there is nothing wrong in using a few drops of lemon juice in face packs, still a regular usage of it can lead to skin irritation and dryness. Also, the psoralen content in lemons makes your skin sensitive to sunlight. It is always advised to stay away from sunlight after the application of lemon juice onto your skin.

2. Sugar:

There are homemade scrubs that contain sugar as a primary ingredient and these scrubs work perfectly as a body exfoliant. But, anything that suits your body will not always suit your face. Our facial skin is relatively more sensitive than the other parts of our body and hence, using sugar in a face scrub will abrade your skin and cause breakouts.

3. Nail Polish:

Many women follow the makeup ideas shared on the internet without thinking about their side effects. In fact, some YouTubers have also tried a few makeup looks using nail polishes. This is clearly a disastrous experiment because we all know how hard it is to remove a nail paint from our face.

4. Toothpaste:

Some girls also try toothpaste for treating dark spots and acne. Using toothpaste for dark spots or zits on the face is completely a bad idea. Toothpaste contains peroxides, peppermint and other ingredients that cause irritation to the skin. You can replace using toothpaste with tea tree oil as it is a far better option for your skin.

5. Hair Spray:

You won’t believe this. Yes, it is true that some women use hair sprays as makeup setting sprays. Nonetheless, it is a mistake because the regular and direct use of this spray tends to clog the pores thereby, making your skin dull. Always, use a good makeup setting spray that suits your skin type.

6. Rubbing Alcohol:

Rubbing alcohol is a commonly known disinfectant which is applied on wounds to prevent infections. But, its anti-bacterial properties doesn’t make it a suitable product for facial skin. It is widely used as a remedy to treat acne and pimples, but using rubbing alcohol damages the amount of proteins and lipids on your skin.

7. Soap:

Although soap is not a DIY ingredient, still I am keeping it on this list. Our skin has a mild pH level(less than 7) whereas soaps are highly alkaline. Therefore, a regular usage of it increases the pH level of your skin thereby, causing severe skin problems. Also, the chemicals used in soaps have the tendency to decrease the natural oils present in our skin. If you have oily skin, then consider using a suitable face wash rather than using harsh soaps.

Apart from this, many women prefer to wash their face with hot water, which actually results in a dry and patchy looking skin. If you have been trying any of these things for your face, make sure to remove them from your beauty regime.
