Kerastase Discipline Bain Fluidealiste Sulfate Free Shampoo Review

Kerastase Discipline Bain Fluidealiste Sulfate Free Shampoo Review

Hi Beauties,

As much as I wait for the monsoons after the hot and scorching summers, I get a bit panicky as well. Monsoon means either continuous rain fall or even a slight drizzle, puts a stay to all my well-made plans. Along with that, my hair becomes a total mess. Normally, my hair is fine, straight and silky; but with monsoons, my hair turns into a frizzy mess. I have more than normal hair fall, and my hair really starts feeling rough. There is so much humidity in the air, that frequent shampooing also does not help. And when it is not raining during this time, the heat, sweat and humidity really weighs down my hair. This continues even during winters sometimes, when my hair becomes really dry and frizzy.

Kerastase Discipline Bain Fluidealiste Sulfate Free Shampoo

My favourite hair care products have always been from Kerastase. There has been a boom in sulfate and silicone free hair care products in the recent years, I have used shampoos from other brands from time to time, but always come back to Kerastase. I think (and do correct me if I am wrong), that the Kerastase ChromaCaptive and Sensitive cleansers are the only sulfate-free cleansers by Kerastase; mainly for colored hair (and I could not get hold of Chroma Sensitive anywhere). Though I do not have any problems with either sulfates or silicones, still it was frustrating that my favourite brand was not coming up with any more sulphate-free products. And, lo and behold, just last month, Kerastase announced its new range called Discipline, which claims to have anti-frizz ingredients, and also had a sulfate-free shampoo in its line-up. The range was launched last month (which is a boon for me, since the monsoon had already started creating havoc with my hair). I could not find the list of ingredients anywhere on their website; hence I blindly bought this shampoo and its accompanying conditioner online. Today, I am reviewing the sulfate-free shampoo for you.

My Experience with Kerastase Discipline Bain Fluidealiste Sulfate Free Shampoo:

Well, Kerastase has always been clever with words; and it does not fail here as well. Though I really like their products, I wish they would not exaggerate so much. Now they have come up with words like rigidity, discipline, and obedient hair; I really wonder whether they are talking about hair or something else.

As I said, I have straight, fine, but slightly unmanageable hair. I should have bought the normal shampoo according to the website; but instead I got the sulphate-free one; since I have not tried any sulphate-free versions of Kerastase before. The only color I put in my hair is “heena,” maybe twice or thrice a year, that too for conditioning.

The shampoo comes in a routine Kerastase bottle. The bottle is rose-pink in color, and aesthetically quite pleasing. The opening is small, and the product consistency is perfect. The fragrance is floral, rose-like, which has a spa like feel to it.

A very small amount is needed to cleanse your hair. Even though it is sulphate free, it foams up easily, and really cleans the hair well. It does not leave your hair squeaky clean, which I hate, but really smoothes out the tresses. It makes the hair nice and soft, smooth and shiny; and this is without the application of any conditioner.

I have used it without a conditioner as well, and I feel it is a real gem of a shampoo. If your hair is not very dry, you may leave out the conditioner part as well. However, that may be due to the presence of silicones in the shampoo (albeit towards the lower end). It decreases the frizz well enough, if used alone; the anti-frizz property does stay for 2-3 days. Hence, there is no exaggeration here. If used along with conditioner and masque, this line will be extremely good for wavy or curly hair types as well. However, does it discipline my hair and make it obedient? Well, to a certain extent yes, but not completely. However, the amount of “discipline” my hair is getting, I am happy enough with it. Mind you, I am not using it with the conditioner or masque or spray here.

Would I Recommend Kerastase Discipline Bain Fluidealiste Sulfate Free Shampoo?

Yes, I would. If you leave out the hype and the exaggerated marketing strategy, you are actually left with a quite decent and good quality product. Every hair type, whether straight or wavy or curly may use it. Very dry to very oily hair may also use it, with or without the use of conditioner or masque or spray. I just wish they had not added silicones to this almost perfect product.
