This review will be on the Kevyn Aucoin “The Matte” lip color in the shade Endless.

My Experience with Kevyn Aucoin The Matte Lip Color in Endless:

Packaging:

This lipstick comes in a simple yet practical black tube which looks very sleek and classy and the cap closes securely. I must admit I do find this lipstick a little less luxurious look wise when compared to many of the high-end luxury brands in the market, but nevertheless, it is still nice and elegant and there are no cons here.

Shade and Pigmentation:

The shade “Endless” is a beautiful strawberry pink color which may also comes across a little bit red under certain lights.  It’s a very bold and bright, richly pigmented shade and this particular color may not suit all skin tones. For example, if someone with very fair or pale skin were to wear this shade, it may come across as very “clown like.”

The shade is very pigmented but because of its dry texture, it doesn’t glide across the lips during application. It skips and applies unevenly hence you do need to apply 2 -3 layers for it to look decent and even, but once applied, it has a complete matte finish with no hint of shine or creamy look.

Texture:

Like most matte lipsticks, this one also feels a bit drying on the lips, but it doesn’t leave my lips feeling parched, which is a good thing and this is coming from someone who suffers from indefinitely dry and flaky lips. It feels highly comfortable on the lips even after a few hours into the wear time.  It doesn’t accentuate fine lines or dryness on the lips, it’s always recommended to exfoliate lips before you use any matte products.

Staying Power:

This truly is a long-wearing lipstick.  It stays put on my lips for 7-8 hours with minimal fading. It will survive through snacks, drinking and even a meal provided your meal is not too heavy on oil as oil will break down any makeup. It leaves a stain after it fades and you need a makeup remover to get rid of that stain.

Fragrance:

This lipstick has a very nice fruity scent, totally reminiscent of those fruity candies we all love.

Overall, this lipstick has all the qualities one may look for in a good lipstick and the highly comfortable feel on the lips gives this lipstick more plus points from me. The color may be a little bit difficult to pull off on certain skin tones or for those who tend to stay away from bold bright lipsticks.  But if you are searching for a good matte lipstick to add to your collection, I suggest you give this a go. I will recommend 🙂

• Expensive but it is a luxury brand.
• The dry texture of the lipstick makes it little difficult to apply as it doesn’t glide on.
• You need couple of swipes for even application.
