My Experience with Kevyn Aucoin The Sensual Skin Enhancer Shade SX05:

Packaging:

This product comes in a tiny little tub. I was initially surprised at how tiny the tub was (you can see the size with the product in my palm) and the size is not even a full 1 oz. I was so skeptical at how long this tiny amount would last me since it is an all over face foundation. But after using it for some time and seeing how little an amount is used with every application, I am convinced this tub will last me my entire lifetime.

I cannot stress how little of an amount you need of this product. You need 1-2 rice grains/ a water droplet amount for you entire face 1-2 pin-head sized amount to cover each cheek and forehead. Less is most definitely more.

Texture:

The consistency and texture is very thick and you may face some difficulty spreading it. I find the best and the only way you should apply this is using a damp beauty blender or a sponge. The moisture in the beauty blender gives it some sort of a medium and helps tremendously. I would totally not advise using any kind of brush with it as the results it gave me were uneven and it made the application difficult.

Shade:

The shade SX05 will suit light to medium skin tones. It has a neutral undertone and is a tad bit lighter for my NW23 skin tone but the difference is hardly noticeable.

Uses:

This is a very multipurpose product. You can use it as an all over foundation or a concealer.

Finish and coverage:

This is a very full coverage foundation. It will hide every blemish, every dark spot with the tiniest amount. But the key is it take a littlest amount and blend blend and blend and then go back and repeat the same process over and over again. This makes the whole process of application very time consuming and it takes me 10- 15 minutes to just do my foundation which should be ideally a two- minute job.

The finish is very natural, semi-matte looking but the feel on the skin is very drying. My skin, which is already on the dry to very dry side hates this product. It sticks to every dry patch and accentuates every fine line and pore; this is with a heavy duty moisturizer and a primer underneath.

As an under eye concealer, it feels very heavy on my delicate eye area hence I dislike using it in that manner.

Staying power:

This is a truly long-wearing foundation. It stayed budge proof and fresh looking all day long without every needing a second glance or a touch of powder. Also another big con of this product is that it has mineral oil as the first ingredient which can be irritant for sensitive skin types.

Overall I do not think this product is for me mostly because it does not suit my dry skin type. But it may work for you if you have oily to normal skin type as it does have amazing coverage and staying power provided don’t mind the long application process. It does take some figuring out how to apply it correctly as I did with lots of trial and error.

• Contains mineral oil as first ingredient.
• Accentuate fine lines and pores and dryness on skin.
• You need a damp sponge or beauty blender to apply this, I have found no other application method effective.
