Khadi Herbal Lip Balm – Lychee Review

Khadi Herbal Lip Balm – Lychee Review

Hey there!

Like everyone else here, my love for lip balms and glosses began eons back. I loved looking through the hypermarket aisles that stock lip balms, finding a cute one and then forcing dad to buy it for me.  I can now boast of a pretty big lip balm collection. The product I am now going to review is one of my first few purchases from an Indian shopping portal, and not too bad a purchase either.

Price:

100 INR for 10 gm.

Product Description:

As the thin skin on your lips is very delicate and prone to getting dry easily, constant hydration is an absolute must. The Khadi Herbal Lip Balm (With Beeswax and Shea Butter), suitable for use by both, men and women, is the perfect remedy for chapped lips. Since what we apply over the lips can easily get ingested, this lip balm is organic in nature and is made using natural herbs that are safe and gentle on your lips. Khadi gives you two of nature’s best emollients in this lip balm – beeswax and shea butter.  The shea butter and beeswax in this Khadi Herbal Lip Balm envelope your lips in a blanket of hydration for soft and supple lips regardless of the weather outside. The small jar can be easily carried along with you in your purse for instant hydration any time of the day.  So, stash the Khadi Herbal Lip Balm in your car dashboard or in your office drawer and keep your lips smooth and supple.

  • Reapply as and when necessary.

Packaging:

It comes in a little tub like most lip balms do. Sadly, I find this type of packaging unhygienic due to the lack of an applicator, but it can be used safely after sanitizing your hand; which is why I prefer using it at night. The screw-able lid shuts tight and can be transported without any risk of spillage or contamination. The lip balm has a slight tendency to melt in the sweltering heat, so that should be taken into account while transporting it.

My Take on Khadi Herbal Lip Balm – Lychee:

While I am not hopping up and down in sheer rapture, I am not in the depths of despair over the balm either. It’s a fairly nice product and if you take the price point into consideration, then it’s quite honestly a pretty nifty purchase.  I have always had my reservations about products in a tub packaging, mostly due to the hygiene factor, but the easiest way around is to use it at night after washing your hands to reduce the risk of contamination, or to use ear buds for on the go application. Using this lip balm at night served my purpose, so it worked out for me. It has no SPF, so for a person with sun allergy, the question of using the lip balm during the day doesn’t arise at all.

As a lip balm, it works pretty well, as it moisturises my lips for at least 1-2 hours after which I sometimes reapply if I wake up during the night. I sometimes use it on my elbows and heels if I can’t find my trusty Vaseline, and it works pretty well there too. I also layer it below and over some lipsticks that require extra TLC (Tender Love and Care) to look nice on my parched lips.

Herbal lip balm

All in all, at this price point, it’s a pretty nice product to have.

Pros of Khadi Herbal Lip Balm – Lychee:

  • Inexpensive.
  • Versatile.
  • Doesn’t appear cakey.
  • Lot of product for the price point.
  • Smells delicious.
  • Not sticky at all.
  • Travel-safe packaging.

Cons of Khadi Herbal Lip Balm – Lychee:

  • Staying time is very low; a mere 1-2 hours.
  • Not pigmented.
  • Only key ingredient list is available.
  • Availability is a tiny problem.
  • Lip balm tubs are unhygienic, and can’t be used for on-the-go touch ups.  If you touch up on-the-go, it’s bound to be a messy affair.
  • Not a very shiny finish.
  • No SPF.

Would I Repurchase Khadi Herbal Lip Balm – Lychee ?
