Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective White Hydrating Moisture Emulsion Review

by Madhuri B.

Kiehl’s products often come with really tall claims and that is why I started using the Clearly Corrective White Dark Spot Solution as I had read that it helps in brightening the complexion and it worked quite well for my dull skin. But then around 6 months back I had a few pimples which left really bad marks (my skin was clear till then) and even though I had been using the dark spot solution it didn’t help in erasing my marks. I went to the Kiehl’s store and asked the SA as to why wasn’t it working and he suggested that I use the entire range and that included the day cream i.e. the Clearly Corrective White Hydrating Moisture Emulsion as well. I did not buy the range right then but after sometime I gave into the temptation and bought the moisturizer along with the other products. I will be reviewing the moisturizer today so read on to see whether it helped with my dark spots and dull complexion or not.

Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective White Hydrating Moisture Emulsion

Description:

Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective White Hydrating Moisture Emulsion

Ingredients:

Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective White Hydrating Moisture Emulsion

Price:

The price was INR 2950 when I bought it but I think the price has increased since then.

Packaging:

The product comes in a functional white plastic bottle with a small pump dispenser that dispenses just the right amount of product. Also the opaque bottle keeps the product safe from light. The bottle is also quite well sealed and there is little fear of the product leaking and it comes with a small cap to cover the pump. All in all the packaging is quite good.

My Experience with Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective White Hydrating Moisture Emulsion:

I have been using the product for almost 3 months now and I can safely say that I don’t like it and I really really really wanted to like it as I had spent a bomb on it. Moisturizer wise it’s decent and does an okay job i.e. it moisturizes without making my face greasy as it is a water based moisturizer. The consistency is quite thin and it spreads well. It has a medicinal smell that I quite dislike but that fades away.

But, coming back to the point, it didn’t do what I wanted it to i.e. work on my dark spots and even out my complexion and even if it is working then it’s working really slow as the improvement I have seen could have been achieved by using the dark spot solution alone. Also another issue that bothered me was that the emulsion has too much alcohol in it which isn’t too good for the skin in the long term and the natural ingredients i.e. the white birch and peony extract mentioned in the cover actually come at the very end of the ingredient list suggesting that quantity wise they are the least.

There are very few things that I like about the product, one being that it is a water based moisturizer and the other is that it has tiny shimmer particles which are only visible when you look really closely but help in making the face look brighter by reflecting light which is something you won’t find in a lot of day creams or moisturizer. And this is the only reason that makes me use the moisturizer daily- this and the price 😉 .

So if you are looking for a really expensive moisturizer than this might be the product for you but it falls flat on the other claims that it makes.

Cons of Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective White Hydrating Moisture Emulsion:

  • Way too expensive for the job it does.

Would I repurchase Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective White Hydrating Moisture Emulsion?

I will obviously finish off the bottle but I am not going to purchase the product again as it doesn’t do what I want it to. It turned out to be a total dud and I wish I had spent those 3k wisely. But anyways I have learnt my lesson and instead of reading the claims I am going to read the ingredients list before purchasing a product, Trust me it really helps.
