Kiehl’s Ultimate Thickening Shampoo Review

By Sanya Jain

Hi everyone!

Nobody wants their hair to look thin, limp and greasy. I, having really fine hair, was in a dire need to find a shampoo that could make my hair look a bit voluminous and healthy. That is how I came across the Kiehl’s Ultimate Thickening Shampoo. I was told by the SA that using this religiously would really make a difference. Let’s see if it lived up to its claims.

Kiehl’s Ultimate Thickening Shampoo Review

Price: $18
Product Description:
An antioxidant-enriched shampoo that fortifies thinning hair. This antioxidant enriched shampoo is infused with a blend of thickening polymers, naturally-derived proteins and an Omega-6 essential fatty acid derivative to fortify and texturize thinning hair. Combined with these is a blend of nurturing Vitamin E and Rosemary, Peppermint, and Cedarwood essential oils (for a stimulating sensation on scalp), to create a gentle formula that helps reinforce hair strands for a noticeably thicker, healthy-looking appearance and improved scalp coverage.

My Experience with Kiehl’s Ultimate Thickening Shampoo:

This Kiehl’s product, like any other Kiehl’s product, looks like it came straight from a medical store. It has a very simple packaging like all the other products from the same brand. It has a flip top mechanism which is very easy to use. The texture of the shampoo is quite runny. It is white, shiny and looks really pearl-like.

Kiehl’s Ultimate Thickening Shampoo Bottle

The nice thing about this shampoo is that it has a very refreshing peppermint smell which makes you feel really fresh after you wash your hair. Even though this shampoo contains sulfates( which is obviously not good for your hair), it doesn’t lather up. Because of which you might end up using too much of the product.

After using this shampoo, my hair feels voluminous and thick. But I’m not impressed by the result. It has not done much for my hair ever since I’ve started using this. Just after the wash my scalp and hair look healthy, but the results were not consistent. I also noticed that my hands got really scratchy and rough after few days of using this. Maybe it’s just me but I noticed it while shampooing my hair. So, I eventually had to stop using this shampoo.

Kiehl’s Ultimate Thickening Shampoo Back

I would not suggest people with dry hair to use this shampoo. I repeat – people with dry hair, please don’t use this shampoo. Even though it contains so many oils in the ingredients it still makes your hair really dry. And, my hair becomes really oily just after one day of washing. You have to use a conditioner after this else your hair will end up looking like a bird’s nest. Never ever skip the conditioner after shampooing. Even the SA told me to always use a conditioner after this as they must be aware of the consequences.

Kiehl’s Ultimate Thickening Shampoo Cap

So overall, it somehow lives up to its claims of volumizing your hair and doesn’t say anything about helping with frizz. If you would like to try this shampoo I suggest you to first try the sample as Kiehl’s people are very generous to provide you with a sample of any product. And always use a conditioner. It might work for you, God knows.
