My Experience with Kiko Milano Universal Fit Hydrating Foundation:

It’s so difficult to find the perfect foundation which would cater to all of our needs – the perfect shade, undertone (warm, cool or neutral toned), coverage (sheer, medium or full), skin type (combination, dry or oily), day/ night time and so on! A good foundation will take your makeup game to the next level.
First thing, I was surprised to see so many variants in this particular range of foundation. They have cool, warm, as well as neutral shades. Though I use the NC foundations from MAC, I am definitely warm toned, but this range from Kiko seemed too yellow. Hence I picked up the “neutral” one in shade N40. The neutral actually appears as a warm-toned one.

Since this foundation was quite affordable, I did not have the highest expectations from it to start with. The “N40” shade suits my medium warm skin tone. The fact that it is a “hydrating” foundation is what attracted me in the first place and that aspect, I was keen to see.

The packaging is quite regular. The all-black outer box is typical of Kiko Milano products. The foundation is packed in a bright beige tube with a black plastic cap. Since it’s not a glass bottle, the product is light and ideal for travel. It has a shelf life of 12 months after opening.

When you pump out the foundation from the tube, the texture seems quite runny. Once you apply it to the face, it spreads out well onto the skin. After a few minutes, you will see that the foundation has set into the skin, giving it a natural and matte finish. I would suggest to dot this foundation on the face and then quickly blend with a foundation brush for best application. It has a very light texture with a slightly oily feel.

It dries fairly quickly and blends into the skin while creating an even tone. The coverage is sheer to medium, but buildable. This is not a very heavy coverage foundation, it does not cover all blemishes and pigmentation marks. Finding your right shade is the key since warm as well as neutral ones seemed yellowish.

See the swatch below where I have pumped out the foundation and then blended it on the wrist. Notice how the skin looks even and natural.

I have combination skin with dry patches and though Kiko Milano Universal Fit Hydrating Foundation did not make the dry patches stand out – it did not really make my skin feel hydrated. I use a moisturizer underneath this foundation. I would say it would suit normal and combination to dry as well as combination to oily skin types. I don’t think it really hydrates skin as such.

This foundation applied smooth over a primer and my makeup stayed put for more than 8 to 10 hours. If you are looking for a foundation to give you a very dewy finish, then this is not your pick because this one didn’t really impart any glow to my face, rather it gives a very matte and natural finish.

Overall, I think at this price, it is a good foundation.
