Kiss Me Ferme Lip Liner Vs. Kanebo Media Lip Liner Review

Hi guys!

I have another comparison review for you. Today I am comparing the Kiss Me Ferme and Kanebo Media lip liners since these 2 are drugstore products and very comparable in price and packaging. So let’s see which one reign as supreme!

My Experience With Kiss Me Ferme And Kanebo Media Lip Liners:

Packaging Of Kiss Me Ferme Lip Liner:

This is an all black pen-style liner, with a band at the end indicating its colour. The shade name is not written on the pencil, only the number is mentioned. So, if you misplace or discard the outer packaging, you won’t know the name of the shade. This has 0.18 g of product.

Price of Kiss Me Ferme Lip Liner: ¥648

Packaging Of Kanebo Media Lip Liner:

This has a navy blue packaging with a see-through transparent plastic containing the product. So you can really get an idea of how much product is remaining and the colour of the liner just by looking at it, which is not possible in the Kiss Me Ferme liner. This has 0.17 g of product.

Price of Media Lip Liner: ¥650 As you can see, both have the same amount of product and have comparable prices.

Shades:

Kiss Me Ferme Liners: I picked up 2 of the total 3 shades available. The shades 02 and 03 are Soft Brown and Red respectively. While the shade band on the 02 liner is close to accurate, it is a truly soft, light brown shade. The shade band on the 03 liner is close to pinky red, but the actual shade is actually a brownish red. So, on the whole, these 2 shades lean toward a brown undertone rather than a pink undertone.

Kanebo Media Liners: RS-4 is a pinky, mild fuchsia shade. It looks more of a darker plum shade on my lips, darker than the swatch. It goes well with my tan skin tone. The Kanebo Media line has a more expanded colour range with 8 shades in all.

Pigmentation:

The first thing I noticed about the Kanebo Media Liner, is that you have to build it up to achieve true colour you desire. So, it does not give a one swipe pigmentation, but when built up, it looks very beautiful.

As for the Kiss Me Ferme liners are concerned, they give one-swipe pigmentation. You have to hand it to them for putting a decent amount of pigment into their product (a rarity here).

Consistency:

The Kiss Me Ferme liners are very creamy. They blend and spread on the lips without any streaking. These seem to set after a few minutes. After that, they transfer a little, but do not lose their vibrancy. The darker red shade seems to have more pigment in it, which is to be expected. Overall, they are more on the creamier side compared to Kanebo Media ones.

The Kanebo liners are not as creamy, but not streaky in any way. They build very well. They are moisturising and do not cling to dry patches or accentuate them. I enjoy this liner more than my pencil lip liners, because those are very drying on my already dry and chapped lips.
Both of these liners are very lightweight on the lips, it feels like nothing is on the lips at all.

Longevity:

Both of them are not very long lasting on their own, they disappear throughout the day as you continue to eat/talk/drink, but they last longer than an average lipstick. Both of them tend to disappear on the inner corners of the lips, so I have to touch up my lips with a matching lipstick on the inner corners of my lips to balance it out.

Use:

Both of them can create sharp lines, although the tips get blunt as you continue to use them. Both the liners accumulate at the end of the liners’ tip as I line my lips. I wipe it off with tissue to make sure it does not build up.

Kiss Me Ferme Lip Liner Vs. Kanebo Media Lip Liner Shade no.

I do not use a lipstick on top of either of them. Although they prolong wear time of lipsticks, they are creamy enough to be used on their own. For the Kanebo liners, I may top them up with a lip balm if my lips are particularly dry that day.

You can use any of them at the centre of the lips alone and spread it out to get a sheer application. They are creamy enough to spread, if used in this particular manner. You can also create a bold look by using the liners on your entire lip. But keep in mind, both of these liners have very little product in them, so they will run out quicker than you think.

Pros of Kiss Me Ferme Lip Liners:

  • Very creamy.
  • Pigmented.
  • Lightweight on the lips.
  • Very travel-friendly.
  • One-step product of liner plus lipstick.

Pros of Kanebo Media Lip Liner:

  • Gorgeous shade selection.
  • Lightweight on the lips.
  • See-through packaging (Amount of product and colour can be seen).
  • Very travel-friendly.

Cons of Kiss Me Ferme Lip Liners:

  • Shade band on packaging can be misleading.
  • Very limited shade range.
  • Not very long lasting.

Cons of Kanebo Media Lip Liner:

  • Not as pigmented.
  • Not as creamy.
  • Not very long lasting.

Rating of Kiss Me Ferme Lip Liners: 4.5/5

Rating of Kanebo Media Lip Liner: 3.5/5

Which Would I Recommend Amongst Kiss Me Ferme And Kanebo Media Lip Liners?
Although Kanebo Media has a more expanded shade range than the limited range of Kiss Me Ferme liners, I would still recommend you stock up on Kiss Me Ferme liners. As I said before, the shades are gorgeous, creamy, pigmented and moisturising.
