My Experience with Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation SPF 15 PA++:

This foundation is not exactly new, and has been around for quite some time. Koh Gen Do recently revamped and reformulated this product and I came across some Youtube makeup gurus talking about this. So, I had to try this for myself!

Packaging:
It comes in a heavy glass bottle with a pump. I love the pump which makes it very hygienic, but the glass bottle makes it less travel friendly.

Texture/Consistency:
This water based foundation has a thin, runny consistency. This formula makes it incredibly lightweight on the skin and it blends like a dream. I can effortlessly blend it with my fingers and get an even, streak free finish, plus a super quick makeup application. Another good method of applying this foundation is with a flat top, synthetic brush or a stippling brush. I found that using my Beauty Blender with this product absorbed more product leading to wastage and also gives a more sheer coverage.

Coverage & Finish:
This foundation gives light coverage which is easily buildable to up to medium. It covers almost all of my skin imperfections – from uneven skin tone to redness and almost fades acne marks. If you are someone who only prefers absolute, full coverage foundations, you may find its coverage insufficient.

The finish is absolutely beautiful, natural and skin like. You truly get your skin, but much better appearance with this. It blends into, sinks and becomes one with your skin so well that you can hardly detect whether you have makeup on. The finish is neither too matte nor dewy.

Shade:
This foundation doesn’t have a vast shade range to choose from. The range consist of only 7 shades, hence you may or you may not find your match. The shade I have is 013 which is a shade lighter than my MAC NW23 skin tone, but once blended onto my skin, it oxidizes a bit making the difference in shade – not very prominent as you can see in the pictures. This shade would be a perfect match for those with light – light medium skin tone with neutral to pink undertones.

Feel on skin:
The extremely lightweight feel of this product makes it a perfect everyday foundation. Once applied, it blends into, sinks in and becomes one with your skin so well that you can hardly detect or feel if you have makeup on. There is no greasy, sticky or slippery feel and it does not transfer. I do not feel the need to powder my skin after putting this on as it contains the right amount of moisture to make my dry skin feel comfortable and supple, yet not too much that I feel the need to take away the excess moisture with powder.

Staying power:
This foundation wears absolutely beautifully. I wore this for 7-8 hours and did not feel the need to do any touchups. My skin usually gets greasy and shiny in certain areas when I wear makeup which did not happen with this foundation on. It did not crack nor stuck to my dry patches nor sunk into pores nor accentuated fine lines.

Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation SPF 15 PA++ Review3

This foundation contains ingredients like Phenyl Trimethicone and Dimethicone which smoothen out the skin’s texture, but it never gives that fake silicone-y feel to the skin. This foundation also contains SPF 15 which is plus for day time wear, but not suitable if you are planning to do flash photography.

Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation SPF 15 PA++ Review6

Overall, I really love this foundation and this gets 2 thumbs up from me. I will recommend this!

Pros of Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation SPF 15 PA++:

• Buildable coverage from light – medium
• Wears and stays on the skin beautifully
• No cracking, no sinking into pores or fine lines
• Oil free
• Natural finish
• Not too matte not too dewy
• Blends easily with fingers or brush
• Very lightweight
• Blends easily and without streaks

Cons of Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation SPF 15 PA++:

• Expensive, just like every high end foundation
• Not a huge shade range
• Non travel friendly glass bottle
• Shade did oxidize on me, but since I already had one shade light, it turned out to be a good match at the end. But, something to keep in mind if you are out to buy this
