Koh Gen Do Cleansing Spa Water Review

Hello everyone,

This review will be on the Koh Gen Do Cleansing Spa Water.

Koh Gen Do Cleansing Spa Water

Product Details:
A mineral makeup remover made with botanical extracts.

What it is formulated to do:
Recommended for all skin types, the easy-to-use, gentle Cleansing Spa Water is Koh Gen Do’s best-selling skin care product. It gently yet thoroughly removes makeup and impurities from the skin with micellar water, which contains skin-loving ingredients that prevent skin from irritation and dryness while removing makeup and residue from the skin for a fresh and clean feeling. It is infused with mineral-rich hot spring water and six essential herbs to protect and nurture skin. White birch sap, harvested only three weeks each spring, adds minerals and xylitol as it effectively removes makeup, oils, and residue. Rich in nutrients, it replenishes and rejuvenates as it cleanses the skin.  It is formulated without sulfates, phthalates.  This formula includes the extracts of essential herbs including rosemary leaf, sage leaf, lavender, artemsiaprinceps leaf, perillaocymoides, and ginger root. It is suitable for sensitive skin and eyes.

Price:
$13 for 100 ml and $39 for 300 ml.

My Experience with Koh Gen Do Cleansing Spa Water:

Packaging:  Comes in a very convenient plastic bottle with a flip top cap. Since I do have this in a travel size, I am also able to take this along with me whenever I travel.

Consistency/Usage/Results:  This is a water-based makeup remover, very similar to Bioderma in function. It is highly effective in removing makeup and is very gentle. It will remove both regular and waterproof makeup with ease. I use one cotton round per eye, lightly soaked in the solution, and press it on my eye for about 5-10 seconds before wiping off and it removes everything from my eyes. It is super duper gentle and has never irritated or caused any stinging sensation on my eyes. My skin never feels greasy post wiping and I also love that this is a rinse-free formula which is a savior for those lazy days.

Since it is quite expensive, I only use this for my eye makeup and sometimes to remove my long-wear liquid lipsticks and lip products which tend to stain. In the demo picture, you can see that it removed eyeshadow, liquid lipstick, lip liner, waterproof eyeliner and mascara – all of them in one swipe (after holding it on the makeup for 5 seconds).

Post-use, it makes your skin feel very clean and refreshed without any dry or stretchy feeling. It calms any irritation on my skin too.

I also love the fact tat it is very mild, almost fragrance-free formula, which is a quality I like as the Bioderma one I have used in the past (the one in green bottle – I believe it’s called Sebium H2o) used to have a very bothersome scent. Bioderma also has a fragrance-free version (Sensibio H2o) which I haven’t used.

Koh Gen Do Cleansing Spa Water

Overall, I absolutely love this makeup remover and for me it has no cons except the expensive price tag. It is double the price of Bioderma and I go through makeup removers a lot, so it is not economic. So, if price wasn’t an issue here for me, I don’t think I would purchase any other makeup remover because I love this so much. I highly recommend this, but if you are unable to get this, Bioderma will basically work in a similar fashion too.

Pros of Koh Gen Do Cleansing Spa Water:

  • Very effective at removing any kind of makeup, regular and waterproof both.
  • Very gentle formula.
  • Never stings my eyes.
  • No residue.
  • Does not dry out my skin.
  • Calms irritation.

Cons of Koh Gen Do Cleansing Spa Water:

  • Expensive.
  • Closest dupe is Bioderma which is basically the same thing for half the price.
