Korres Plum Lip Butter Review

Korres Plum Lip Butter

Hi Beauties,

Today I am reviewing another shade in my Korres lip butter collection. Kores Lip butters are famous through out the world for their excellent quality. Korres is a Greek brand…and now has branches in almost all corners of the world. They have various bath, skin care and body products in their kitty. I am an absolute fan of their lip butters which come in a pot packaging.

The lip butters come in various shades like Pomegranate, Wild Rose, Plum , Quince, Mango, Guava and Jasmine. Out of these, Guava and Jasmine are the more transparent types( though Jasmine has a very pale pink tint). Mango is orange in color, Pomegranate is corallish pink, Plum is purplish red, Wild Rose is a deeper, purplish berry shade, and Quince is a cool toned rose pink. Allthese are Shea butter based lip balms; they also have lip balms based on Mandarin butter and Mango butter (mostly in stick and tube form). My favorites among these have been Mango, Pomegranate and Plum; and I am reviewing the shade Plum for you today.

About the Product:

According to Korres, “This rich butter leaves lips deeply moisturized, supple, and kissably soft”. Korres Lip Butters are formulated with natural oils and extracts to soothe and condition lips. Korres claims: “A buttery lip balm that melts on the lips and offers a shiny, tinted finish. The combination of Shea butter and Rice wax offers deep hydration and softness. Ideal for chapped lips”

Shea butter has been traditionally used in Africa by native soap manufacturers to protect skin and hair from the harsh climate. It’d also been a well known baby pampering treat, intended to protect newborns from extreme weather. Recent findings claim that Shea butter protects the skin against climate and UV aggression; helps preventing wrinkle formation; soothes irritated and chapped skin and moisturises the epidermis.

My Experience Korres Plum Lip Butter

The Lip balm comes in a pot, which is enclosed in a double box packaging. The pot is white in color, made of plastic and closes with a cap. The color of the cap corresponds with the shade of lip balm inside. The name of the shade is also written on top of cap. The packaging is small and very sturdy and can be easily carried easily in the purse. Inside, there is another transparent cover to protect the balm.

The shade PLUM looks deep Burgundy color in the pot. On my lips, it looks a Sheer Raspberrycolor. Out of all the shades I have tried, this one has the deepest pigmentation, and is my go to shade in winters. Since the color is deep, it may show off well on pigmented lips as well. In winters, this may serve as a lip product which gives a bright lip during day time, without looking OTT. The lip balm is extremely soft, buttery consistency, and glides very smoothly on my lips. The lip balm is neither greasy, nor sticky. The lip balm seems to seep through the chapped skin and enter inside to reach the actual skin of the lips and do its work there. The product is extremely moisturising, and remains on my lips satisfactorily for 5-6 hours with light meals in between. However, when I apply it at night, I wake up to the most soft and flake free lips…. with a subtle pinkish stain.

The color of the balm is sheer, but deep. Applying one thin layer gives a nice glossy finish and a very nice tint, with adequate moisturisation. One pot lasts me a long time. As with other lip balms, It can start bleeding if applied too much. It has a It does not have any abnormal taste.

This can serve as a lovely base or gloss for matte lipsticks. It gives the lips a MLBB look, leaving a nice stain. The lip butter has a very nice pleasant smell, and stains the lips naturally (as if you had just had plenty of berries).

Cons of Korres Plum Lip Butter

• Expensive
• Limited availability in India
• Pot packaging (unhygienic and tends to get under my nails…but since I mostly use a lip brush…not a con for me. Also pot packaging means the consistency can be kept soft)
