Why Shea Butter?

Shea butter has been traditionally used in Africa by native soap manufacturers to protect skin and hair from the harsh climate. It’s also been a well-known baby-pampering treat, intended to protect newborns from extreme weather. Recent findings claim that Shea butter protects the skin against climate and UV aggression; helps preventing wrinkle formation; soothes irritated and chapped skin and moisturises the epidermis.

My Experience with Korres Shea Butter Lip Balm:

This is my first Korres product. Korres seems to have created quite a niche for itself, especially when it comes to lip care products. They claim to use all-natural ingredients in their products, which is quite comforting to know.

The particular lip balm is a shea butter balm that is ideal for dry lips. I have been using this regularly for a couple of days. I own a full stash of lip balms, so I can easily compare it to a bunch of other lip balms that I have used (L’Occitane, Erb, Maybelline, Philosophy). This is definitely one of the most moisturising lip balms that I have used. I have particularly dry lips that get flaky if I don’t keep them hydrated at all times.

This shea butter lip balm goes on relatively matte. It has a slight sheen to it, but it’s not out and out glossy. That’s just how I like my lip balms. It’s not slippery to apply, which is makes it good to use underneath lipsticks as well. It has a mild vanilla-ish fragrance—it reminds me of the MAC lipstick fragrance.

I would recommend applying this to smooth, exfoliated lips, especially if you have dry lips like mine. Once applied, this hydrates my lips instantly and keeps them soft and supple for at least 4-5 hours. When I apply this at bedtime, I wake up with very soft, smooth and moisturised lips. The best part, of course, is that this lip balm is free of parabens, mineral oil, silicones and the like. It contains pretty much all natural ingredients, which makes it completely safe to use.

This is a completely clear, un-tinted lip balm and it does not contain any SPF. So, those are the two things that you should keep in mind before going for this one. But since I already have quite a few lip balm sticks, I don’t need to have it all in just one stick. I mostly use this when I’m at home.

Pros of Korres Shea Butter Lip Balm:

– Goes on smooth and mostly matte.
– Ideal for dry lips. Keeps lips hydrated and moisturised for hours.
– Leaves lips feeling soft, smooth and supple.
– Has a mild, pleasant vanilla fragrance.
– Contains natural ingredients and is free of harmful chemicals.

Cons of Korres Shea Butter Lip Balm:

– No cons!

My Verdict on Korres Shea Butter Lip Balm:

If you have dry lips that are always in need of hydration, then I would recommend this lip balm. It’s safe, natural and super moisturising. Of course, keep in mind that it is clear and does not contain SPF.
