My Experience with Korres’ Wild Rose Daily Brightening & Refining Buff Cleanser
So I was super excited to try this cleanser out, which was my seventh product from Korres’ Wild Rose line. I love Korres (that’s no secret ‘round here). I’m a sucker for rose fragrances, and it’s my goal to exhaust all the products from this line soon, so I picked this up. I have combination, acne-prone skin and usually try to find products that don’t dry skin out, are oil free and won’t break me out. Since most products are created for one skin-type or the other, it’s hard to find products that I won’t have to compromise on. This scrub promises exfoliate and brighten skin without drying it out and sounded like a good match for my skin. It contains wild rose oil — a natural source of vitamin C — which is known to boost the skin’s radiance. I’ve been very busy and stressed with work lately, so anything that makes me look fresh and luminous is worth a try!
Although it’s a scrub, this cleanser is very creamy and the exfoliants aren’t too rough, so it’s perfect for everyday use. It doesn’t foam and goes on just like a cream. In fact, when I do rub it around my face, I often wonder how it gets any dirt or makeup off it! But once I wash it off, my face feels clean with no traces of makeup. It’s pretty awesome and totally confusing! Because it is so creamy, my face feels soft and hydrated after using it. There is no tightness (the kind you usually feel after exfoliating) nor does it feel greasy. In fact, even though it’s super creamy, my skin doesn’t get any oilier through the day when I use this. After I’ve used it, my skin feels very soft and smooth. It’s gentle on the skin around the eyes and heavy-duty enough to get all my day’s makeup off my face. The rose fragrance, even though a little synthetic, is pleasing and calming especially when I use this at the end of the day. As for brightening, my skin does feel “luminous” after using this. I think it’s because this actually hydrates the skin.
Now you’re probably wondering, this all sounds good, where the does the “bad romance” part come in? Well, as great as this cleanser is short-term, it breaks me out horribly within a day or two of its use. I end up getting nasty, painful cysts all along my jawline. Because I love how this makes my skin feels immediately after using it, I have tried to blame several other products for those breakouts. But after stopping use and coming back to this 10-12 days later, it’s the same thing over and over again (well, three times to be exact). I have no idea what ingredient in this product is causing my skin to flare up like this, but it absolutely sucks that I can’t continue using it.
I have passed this product to my mom, who has dry skin, and she’s had no complaints so far. So, I guess it’s not the scrub, it’s just me. And with those lines and a heavy heart, I have to say goodbye to this scrub. I will never, ever let it touch my face again!
