I have heard so much about Kylie lipsticks. They are so popular among beauty bloggers and enthusiasts that it is tough not to give in to the rush. Specially designed by beauty Moghul Kylie Jenner, these lipsticks come in an array of beautiful shades. Under the IMBB Sponsorship Scheme, I got their lip kit in the shade ‘Dirty Peach’ to see if it is worthy of the hype. Today’s review is on Kylie Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lip kit Dirty Peach. Read on to know my views on it.
Dirty Peach is a mid-tone yellow peach.
Each Lip Kit contains:
1 Matte Liquid Lipstick (0.11 fl oz./oz. liq / 3.25 g)
1 Pencil Lip Liner (net wt./ poids net .03 oz/ 1.0g)
The #KylieCosmetics Lip Kit is your secret weapon to create the perfect ‘Kylie Lip.’ Each Lip Kit comes with a Matte Liquid Lipstick and matching Lip Liner.
This ultra-long wearing Lip Liner has a creamy texture that glides across the lips for a very easy and comfortable application. The Lip Liner sharpens easily in most standard sized sharpeners – just make sure your sharpener is not dull!
Matte Liquid Lipstick
The Matte Liquid Lipstick has high intensity pigment for an instant bold matte lip. The extremely long wearing lipstick contains moisturizing ingredients for a comfortable, emollient and silky feel that does not dry out your lips.
My Experience with Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kit Dirty Peach:
Kylie liquid lipstick comes in a tube with a transparent font cut-out from where you can see the colour. The name of the shade is printed at the bottom of the tube and the applicator is a standard doe-foot applicator. The lip kit also comes with a lip liner. The bottom of the pencil is color-coded and that makes it easy to spot the shade in your stash. This also helps to know how much product is left in the tube.
The tube of the lipstick has a regular screw-on black cap on it that closes properly in place. There are no chances of unwanted leakage of the product. The shade name is mentioned on the base of the tube and also on the outer cardboard box which also bears the image of lips with lip color dripping from it.
Starting off with the packaging of the lipliner, it comes in a sharpenable pencil form but does not contain a sharpener in the packaging. These pencils have a color-coded band similar to the colour of the lipliner inside. The rest of the pencil is black in colour with the logo of the brand and the shade name embossed on it. The pencils look very sleek and travel-friendly. It has a black cap on top which closes tightly in place and hence it would be a mess to carry it to places.
The pencil breaks very easily if you put a little bit of pressure while using the liner. This leads to product wastage. I also feel there should also have been a sharpener provided also with the pencil.
The applicator of the lipstick comes attached with the black cap. The shape of the applicator is just perfect for liquid lipstick application. It is doe-foot shaped and helps to cover the lips perfectly without any unevenness. Overall, I find the packaging sturdy and quite attractive.
Since I am a big fan of peachy lip colours, I went ahead to try this peachy lip kit. Kylie ‘Dirty Peach’ is a medium yellow-toned dirty peach lip colour with undertones of brown in it. The colour doesn’t look very fresh but it is dirty kind of peach. It actually won’t wash out Indian beauties because the colour is not very pale. It looks quite gorgeous but subdued on my lips. This, however, doesn’t brighten up my face but adds a healthy glow. It will look great on fair to medium skin tones but dusky beauties can also give this a try. I am quite happy with the shade.
Pigmentation and Finish:
At first, I was quite sceptical about trying Kylie lip kit because I heard they are quite drying on lips. But after Kylie reformulated these lipsticks, I thought I should rather try them and see if they are really good.
This lipstick is intensely pigmented and only 1-2 swipes are needed for a full opaque coverage on the lips. There is no significant shimmer or sheen in this lipstick. The colour payoff is really nice. On my lips, I apply two coats to even out the edges and give an even look. It hides lip pigmentation smartly. If your lips are heavily pigmented, you might need multiple swipes for fuller coverage. The lipliner has good pigmentation as well and works fairly well in hiding pigmented lips. Using the lipliner along with the lipstick adds an extra dimension to the lips and looks beautiful.
Fragrance wise, it has a mild candy-like fragrance which is never too bothering. The fragrance lingers for sometime after which it gradually fades away.
Texture and Quality:
The texture is smooth, very creamy and the product when applied spreads evenly without any tugging or pulling. It has a medium-thin kind of consistency and the formulation has improved than what it was earlier. It takes about a minute to dry and set to a completely matte finish. Avoid touching your lips during this time to prevent transferring on objects.
But the matte finish is neither drying nor very hydrating. Since my lips are prone to dryness and flakiness, I did feel some dryness after hours of applying it, so for me, a tender lip balm is mandatory. The formulation is buildable and adjusts well to layering. It does not crumble and does not enhance the fine lines of the lips. This lip colour is smudge proof and water-proof. Once it dries down completely, it is completely transfer-proof as well.
This lipstick is easy to work with and gives a flawless finish upon application. It does not feel patchy or sticky on the lips. Also, the formula is lightweight and feels quite comfortable. I know this lipstick is a bit on the higher end with respect to the price point, but keeping the quality and the finish it delivers, the price is totally worth it. I do feel Kylie Jenner has improved on the quality and made the formulation better.
Now, coming to the texture of the lipliner, it is very creamy and feels soft on the lips during application. It glides on smoothly and does not cause even slight pulling and tugging of lips. The tip of the liner goes emollient on the application, so it never hurts your lips. But on lining my lips in the very first application, the sharpened tip wears off and I had to reshape it again. It is very easy and comfortable to work with this liner.
The formula of lipliner does not dry out your lips unlike the lipstick even when you don’t wear a lip balm underneath. It sets to a non-transferable matte finish and doesn’t move or budge. This lipliner does not make your lips look patchy and highlight the fine lines of your lips. I can wear this lip kit in different ways- with a lipliner along with the matte lipstick, only with the lipliner on lips, only the lipstick. It comes pretty handy in many ways.
Just one last piece of advice for the readers. If your lips are prone to dryness as well, you must prime and prep your lips to be comfortable with this lipstick. So, the bottom line is that the formulation has become better than before. It doesn’t cause much discomfort but if you are wearing it you have be careful about nourishing your lips.
The staying power is very impressionable. It is quite long lasting. It stays for about 9-10 hours without food or drinks. If you consume food or drinks in between, the formula fades slightly from the centre, but the colour intensity does not vary much due to this. If you can handle the dryness of the lips, it is definitely a long-wearing lipstick and you wouldn’t need frequent touch-ups with this.
Even when the colour intensity fades away, it is pretty easy to reapply this and it does not cause patchiness. It adjusts well to layering and you would not have to apply the lipstick again after complete removal.
Coming to the removal process, it is a bit tough to remove with normal water-based makeup removers. So, keep oil-based removers for removing it. If it is still not going away, using almond oil can aid in wiping it off completely.
I am quite impressed with the quality of this lipstick. I have never owned a Kylie lipstick before and I am happy that I finally tried it. It does not have a groundbreaking formula but it is definitely of a good quality. If you are a fan of fuller looking voluminous lips, always use the lipliner as a base and then the lipstick. The colour is really gorgeous and if you are a peach colour fan like me, do give this a try.
