I always wanted to get my hands on these liquid lipsticks that had a cult status but the first round of colours didn’t seem too “brown girl friendly.” Then I saw the shade “Ginger” on a youtuber and I knew it was time to get my first Kylie Lip Kit.

My Experience with Kylie Ginger Lip Kit:
The lip kit comes in a thin cardboard box inside which you will find the liquid lipstick and its matching lipliner. The liquid lipstick tube is rather simple. It has a black cap and is transparent on the bottom revealing the shade and product inside with ‘Kylie Cosmetics’ written in black over the tube. Even the applicator is your classic doe-foot type. The lip liner is rather simple too, it’s completely black and only has the shade colour at the bottom of the pencil. When you open it, you’ll find that the lip liner is in a sort of crayon rather than pencil form.
Kylie describes “Ginger” as a warm terracotta brown, but on my golden tan skin, it’s more of a beige brown with hints of orange tones in it.
The smell is heavenly. It literally smells like cupcakes or a confectionary bakery, but the scent dies down after the lipstick has dried. It applies smoothly on the lips though I would recommend exfoliating beforehand. It doesn’t feel drying or patchy on the lips even as it dries down completely matte. The lip liner too goes on smoothly without tugging on your lips and it pigmented enough to cover any sort of pigmentation. However, I found a small problem where if I used the lipliner first and the liquid lipstick over that, my lips would feel a bit sticky and patchy. But when I used the lipstick alone and used the lipliner only to perfect the edges the formula felt comfortable. I am not sure what the issue was but I prefer wearing the lipstick alone. It feels quite soft and light almost like you haven’t worn a liquid lipstick.
The pigmentation is excellent. It goes on completely opaque. The lip liner too is super pigmented, honestly if the formula were used for a lipstick, it would be awesome. It doesn’t leave streaks or apply in a patchy manner. It doesn’t even settle in the fine lines too much or flake! I am in love with the formula, I can finally see what all the hype is about.
It stays for about 8 hours easily and barely fades even through meals unless you have something that’s oily in which case it would fade more that too from the center which just looks odd. Touching up the liquid lipstick itself is not advisable as it tends to become cakey, so I used the lip liner for touch ups and it worked brilliantly.
If you are looking for a good dupe, the Chambor Extreme Matte range is quite similar in formulation and shade range. The Revlon Ultra HD Matte is pretty similar too and has some nice n*de ish shades except that it doesn’t dry down completely matte.
Pros of Kylie Ginger Lip Kit:

Cons of Kylie Ginger Lip Kit:
- Packaging looks cheap in hand for the amount paid.
- Could be overpriced to some.
I love almost everything about this lipstick, it is literally perfection when it comes to liquid lipsticks, but in all honesty, it’s really pricey for a college student. For this shade and formulation combo, I would definitely repurchase, but for some other shades, I would much rather buy a dupe.
