Skintones : MAC NC 35 / medium fair
Hi Everyone, 🙂
You guys have already seen the preview of Kylie Lip kit. This is the detailed review of the 4 that I have tried from the collection. I have a few more that I’d review it for you all soon. 🙂
Price : USD 29 + shipping
Available at kyliecosmetics.com (keep a look out for the restocking dates. They sell out really fast)
The four shades that I am going to review are 22, Koko K, Posie K and Dolce K.
Let’s start with the packaging first. It’s stunning. A gorgeous white box with dripping lipstick on Kylie’s lips. The lips have the same color as the lipstick. The box includes a set of liquid lipstick and a lip pencil. The liquid lipsticks have beautiful black lettering and come in clear high quality plastic tube with doe foot applicator. The lip liners have the tips coloured so they are easier to store.
The texture of lip liners is almost dreamy. They are creamy, matte and glide on lips so easily. The texture of lipstick is flat velvetty matte – no shine at all. But surprisingly, it is a very comfortable formula. It goes on lips beautifully gives smoothness to lips. Definitley use a lip scrub before using any matte lipsticks but esp these ones because these would pick any single dry patch on the lips. The formula is probably the best one I have tried so far among liquid lipsticks. It’s beautiful. It feels comfortable on lips, does not feather or bleed and boy! it stays on. After a full meal and lot of snacking you’d notice that these lipsticks feather just a bit but you could just dust off the extra bit with your finger tip and the lipstick looks just the same. I have worn these for good 8-9 hours and these are never failed me except may be accentuating the dryness of my lips a bit more after all these hours. But I am so used to of wearing matte lipsticks now, I am aware of the pros and cons that come with the texture. I didn’t find these uncomfortable still. You need a full on makeup remover to remove these. These would not come off easily with just your makeup wipe. These lipsticks have an amazing caramel vanilla fragrance to them. It’s yummy.
Both the lipstick and lip liners are pigmented as hell. One swipe and you get a bang on color.
As much as I love every single thing about these lipsticks, I am not too excited about the color range especially for my skin tone. 2 of the 4 shades wash me out but the other 2 have become a total favourites.
- 22 : It is a stunning terracotta orange. a unique reddish warm orange is a very flattering and a unique shade. It looks different on every one but a lovely universally flattering shade and worth having in your kit.
- Dolce K : A soft taupe brown color. May look n*de on medium to dusky skin tones. It is one difficult color to pull off because it is not your typical n*de brown. It has those mauve undertones to it that either would be flattering on your skin tone or would totally dull you down. I always have to balance out the rest of my face with blush or statement eyes. It is not pull out, apply it and rush out of the door kind of shade.
- Koko K : It is a pale pink color. It looks the worst against my wheatish skintone. Infact if you see this color on me in yellow light you might just just think that I have no lips. :\ It could be a great shade for those with pale / fair complexion. Infact this could be a lovely MLBB pink shade for those with cool toned fair complexion.
- Posie K : The star among the 4. It is a dusty rose pink color. So beautiful and flattering for all skin tones. It’s just the right amount of pink that absolutely stunning for both day and evening. It is a showstopper but still has that soft subdued quality to it. LOVE every bit of it.
Overall, these are one of the most stunning matte lipsticks I have in my collection. These are every bit worth the hype. Some colors my not be your cup of tea but the formula, texture , forget lipsticks..the lip liners- they are dreamy. I hope she never stops making them. 🙂
