L.A. Girl Ultra Beauty Brick Eyeshadow Collection Review

This brand is one of my most favorite affordable brands. Even the top notch Makeup Artists use products from this brand. I have given a try to quite a lot of products from this brand too, like concealers, lip paints, eye liners and eyeshadow palettes. This palette is the fourth and the last palette from the collection. These palettes are kind of hit and miss. Since they are very affordable, misses were not as disappointing to me. Let us see how does this palette perform.

My Experience with L.A. Girl Ultra Beauty Brick Eyeshadow Collection:

Packaging:
The eye shadows come packaged in a glossy, black cardboard box with a very flimsy lid. The lid has a magnetic closure, but the hold is quite loose. Hence, the eye shadows and your bag are always at risk, if you decide to travel with it. There is a transparent window provided on the lid to check the shades of the palette. When you open the box there is a long, thin mirror provided at the back of the lid. Mirror is so thin that your whole eyelid won’t fit while doing makeup.

There is a dual ended applicator provided with one side synthetic brush and other side sponge tip. My suggestion is to throw this applicator out. Use a natural flat eye shader brush (Those ELF $1 brushes are great!) to pack on colors – wet or dry. The shadows are embedded on a purple colored base and at the back, all other details are mentioned. Weight of product provided is 12g.

Texture:
2nd and 7th shades are glittery shades with glitters having major fallout. 1st shade actually applies in patches. All the remaining shades have satin finish. There are no matte shades. The shades are not very powder like, so there is not much fallout. 1st shade being the lightest looks little chalky. If you leave it for some time, they do set. Blending is even and has to be done fast. They are buildable. Smoothness wise, they are okay, neither rough nor silky.

Pigmentation:
The lighter the color, lesser is the pigmentation. The pigmentation of the first shade is negligible. As we progress to the other side of shades, the pigmentation increases.

1st is an extremely light purple highlighting shade. 2nd is a pink highlighting shade. 3rd is a shimmery mauve color. 4th looks like a rosy shade to me. 5th is a light grey shade. 6th seems silver with purple undertones.

7th is a light purple. 8th is a darker shade of violet. 9th is a very dark shade of purple. 10th a taupe shade. 11th is a copper brown shade and last one 12th is a dark chocolate shade. First half of the palette has rose undertones and 2nd half has purple undertones in them. They do stain, but only on fingers. Hence, packing directly on the lids with a flat shader brush is very helpful.

Staying Power:
These shadows stay up to 4-5 hours before they start to fade, with primer. After trying 3 palettes from this line, I did not want to go without a primer. I have tried the shimmery shades with brush dipped in a setting spray, which increased the longevity in multiples. Do not even try to wear these shades on hot, humid days. You will ruin your image as a makeup lover!

Would You Recommend L.A. Girl Ultra Beauty Brick Eyeshadow Collection?
Since it is the last palette from the whole bunch, let me suggest you one thing: if you are a beginner, you can start with this, if you are a YouTube artist/Beauty blogger you can buy this. If you already have a good collection of palettes, do not go for any of these. I am planning to donate these palettes to my younger cousins who have started putting on makeup. What do you suggest, dear girlies?

  1. That’s a pretty palette Ankita, but ya, not one of the must-have ones. I love LA Girl too, have tried a few products and my experience has been good. Shades 7-12 has some really great shades.
