LA Colors Twisty Gloss: Review and Swatches

I have finally got my first package from Cherryculture and I am soooo thrilled. Actually, it had been a long time since I had ordered and the products were not coming and I was sure that someone must have nicked it, but when the package finally came, in a cardboard box and all products bubble-wrapped, I was on heaven. Having used some of the products, I decided to do a review on one of them, the one I was thoroughly surprised with, because even though the thing is so cheap, it is extremely good.

If you have been doing the rounds of www.cherryculture.com, then you will be quite familiar with the name of LA Colors. For those who don’t know about the brand, LA Colors is a U.S based cosmetic company which mainly sells budget-buys for the makeup-crazy-woman. 😛 If you visit their website: www.lacolors.com, you will be awed with the products and colours they have there.

The product I am reviewing here is the L. A. Colors Twisty Gloss!!!!! (“Like as if I hadn’t guessed it from the post-head”, you must be thinking. 😀 And here I was trying to add some suspense :/ )

For those who have read my previous posts, they must have already understood that I am simply crazy about lip products, especially glosses and balms. In fact, I can very much stay without any make-up product, but my lips have to look good. 😛
This is how the glosses were packed :))

So, when I was surfing through Cherry culture, my eyes happened to fall on these and I checked out the shades available; even though they don’t have a multitude of shades like Nyx glosses, these shades are such that they will surely catch your fancy [ummm…at least they caught mine. :)]

The shades available are:

Price: $5 (Rs.225) in Cherry Culture, but right now an offer is on and you will get them for $3 (Rs.135) only.

I bought three shades from there out of the twelve: Strawberry Lemonade, Cinnamon Apples and Mochaccino.

Left to Right: Cinnamon Apples, Mochaccino, Strawberry Lemonade.

lacolors5

Strawberry Lemonade: it is a pretty pink-coloured gloss with golden shimmer in it. Can be worn during the day or night.
Cinnamon Apples: a wine coloured gloss infused with gold shimmer. I prefer wearing this one at night, since the shimmer quantity in this is rather high.
Mochaccino: a nude gloss with gold shimmer. This too can be worn during the day or night.

The glosses come in silver metal tubes fitted with a metal cap. There is a transparent casing in between which shows the colour of the gloss. If you open the cap, you will see that the transparent casing has these teeny-weeny holes on top, through which the gloss comes out (much like Lakme Aquashine Lip Color, minus the white foam tip). To squeeze out the gloss, you have to twist the rear end of the metal tube, and soon you will see the gloss coming up and out of the holes.

The metal cap and top end of the tube.

Here are the swatches of the three glosses:

And now, summing up the good and the bad (which I don’t really find)-

Thumbs-Up for LA Colors Twisty Gloss Why:
• It is extremely pigmented. They will show their colour on highly pigmented lips as well.
• The staying power is good. It stays for over two hours and does not vanish if you sip or have a light snack.
• It is not sticky. But if a ‘hawa ka jhonka’ blows your hairs onto your lips, they might get stuck a little, but that does not mean you have to pry them of your lips. Your hair will automatically come off.
• The shimmer in the Strawberry and Mochaccino is not over the top, but that in the Cinnamon Apples is a little high.
• The twist-up mechanism prevents loss of product 😀
• The high-end packaging is great.
• Does not come off with water.
• Lastly, the price. You will hardly find glosses of such quality at such a price.

Thumbs-Down For LA Colors Twisty Gloss Why:
Honestly, I could not really find anything which I can direct as a negative attribute to the gloss.

Rating:

Will I Re-purchase?
Yes, I will. In fact, I have a good mind to buy the other shades too.

Do I Recommend It?
Of course I do. By now you must have understood that 😀 They are a good substitute to Maybelline Color Sensational Lip glosses or Revlon Super-lustrous Lip glosses, for me.
So, next time you visit Cherry Culture, give these Twisty glosses a chance to make their way into your make-up bag. I am sure you won’t really regret it. :))

P.S. : I think some mall in Gurgaon has LA Colors counter. Now I know how lame I am sounding by saying this, because Gurgaon has quite a few malls and exactly which one has it, I don’t know. But I just tried to add in a little info for your benefit.
