La Roche Posay Anthelios XL SPF 50+ Ultra Light Fluid Review

Hello ladies,

Summers are around the corner and with this season comes the thought of harmful sun rays and its horrifying effects on our skin. Lately, I have been suffering from redness due to sun exposure as I wasn’t using a proper SPF for my face. So, before the summer blows up I picked my share of high sun protection lotion for myself and I am really happy with this investment.

La Roche Posay Anthelios XL SPF 50+ Ultra Light Fluid Review

So, today I will be reviewing the La Roche Posay Anthelios XL SPF 50+ Ultra Light Fluid. This is a much raved product all over the internet and also is considered to be one of the best sun screens available, globally. Well, I haven’t used much of SPF creams or lotions, but I will try my level best to review this product. So, let’s get started.

Product Description:

Women or men that may be exposed to intense sun regularly. Suitable for normal to combination skin. Helps to prevent appearance of sun-induced dark spots. Suitable for fair and sensitive skin.

With Mexoplex (a complex that contains Mexoryl SX) and Mexoryl XL, this product provides high broad spectrum sun protection against the harmful effects of both UVA and UVB rays. Contains La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water.

My Experience with La Roche Posay Anthelios XL SPF 50+ Ultra Light Fluid:

Packaging: The sun protection fluid comes in a white and orange coloured plastic bottle. The bottle is rectangular with smooth edges. At the top left edge, there’s a dispensing nozzle that helps in controlling the flow of the product. This nozzle is protected by a white screw cap. The quality of the plastic used for packaging is really good and sturdy. Overall, the packaging is quite unique and looks a bit medicinal, but is super travel friendly.

Consistency: As the bottle states, this sun protection product is an off white fluid, the consistency is quite runny as you can see in the photo. The product is non-comedogenic.

Smell: The product smells a bit medicinal, but is not at all over powering and it won’t bother sensitive noses. The smell vanishes during application.

Results: I have combination skin type and for my skin choosing a sunscreen was a tricky job. But, thankfully many brands and companies have come up with these non-comedogenic options. La Roche Posay Anthelios XL SPF 50+ Ultra Light Fluid is one such fine product that really knows to deal with such skin types.

I layer this fluid over my moisturiser and I am done for the next 3 hours. I don’t have to keep reapplying it! This is the case if I am continuously out in sun for the whole 3 hours. Reapplication is necessary after this duration. When at home, I usually apply this only twice a day(i.e. once in 6 hours).

3-5 drops of the fluid are enough to cover my entire face and neck area. Very little product is required in one go, so I guess this bottle will roughly last for around 3 months which I feel is affordable for the visible results that it imparts. Plus, it doesn’t feel heavy or greasy after application which is a huge benefit. It did not break me out nor disturbed or irritated my skin in any way. This sun protection fluid is suitable for all skin types and is also meant for sensitive skin too.

  1. Thanks for reviewing this! I was really curious about it since I also have a combination skin during summers. Does this have to be applied 15min-1/2 hour before going out or it can be applied few minutes prior to going out? Thanks!
