Labello Sun Protect SPF 30 Waterproof Lip Balm-Review

Hello everyone 🙂
Hope you all are doing well! Today I would be reviewing Labello Sun Protect Lip balm with SPF 30. Well to start with, I never ever leave my house without applying sunscreen, so when I stumbled upon this lip balm with SPF30, I immediately picked it up. To know how it fared, read on……

LABELLO SUN PROTECT SPF 30 (3)

Ingredients:

Smoothing sunflower extract, SPF 30.

Application:

Apply directly to lips before and during sun exposure to continuously moisturize and protect against damaging UV rays.

Care effect:

Labello Sun Protect locks in moisture and gives waterproof protection with SPF 30 to combat the harsh effects of UVA and UVB rays when outdoors for long periods. This moisturizing formula is infused with smoothing, hydrating sunflower extract and potent anti-oxidant vitamin E to fight skin damage and aging caused by UV damage. It also supports the skin’s immune system, leaving lips smooth, even and always protected without a heavy or tacky texture.

Skin compatibility dermatologically approved.

Color and Shine:

Sun Protects gentle coats lips with a waterproof layer of moisturizing, anti-oxidant sun protection and a natural, color-free finish.

Price:

Approximately 150INR

Packaging:

It comes in a normal Nivea type packaging. Long cylindrical tube with a twist up bullet. The packaging is nice unlike the Maybelline ones. (PS: Do not ever twist up your Maybelline lip balm completely cos it will never go back in, this happened to two of my lip balms: Maybelline lip smooth and also mango pie 😛 I have now moved those lip balms in my TBS “dibbis” but I hate using it with my fingers!! )

My experience with Labello Sun Protect SPF 30 Waterproof Lip Balm:

Nivea and Labello are owned by the same parent company; Beiersdorf. But trust me Labello ones are creamier, moisturizing and stay longer than the Nivea ones. Also, the Labello ones have very unique flavors, my favorites being Chamomile, Milk and Honey, Mint, etc. Unfortunately I’ve finished them all.

Now coming back to this product, well when I bought it I thought it would be like a regular lip balm and plus the product description stated that this would give a colour-free finish. So the first time I just applied this and left my house without looking in the mirror and when I saw myself in my lift’s mirror I was horrified!! I had white cricketer type lips!! 😛

It leaves a heavy white cast on the lips. But you can always tone it down by applying a bright lipstick or lipgloss. This gives you a nice softer version of your bright lipstick. I am attaching a picture to show you how I have softened Colorbar’s ‘Oh my magenta’ using this.

LABELLO SUN PROTECT SPF 30

Other than the white cast, it is a very nice lip balm. It also has a very mild soothing fragrance which fades away within a few minutes of application.

It’s very moisturizing and creamy and stays put for a good 4+ hours. This doesn’t make my lips feel dry at all. Even after having heavy meal, I still feel that my lips still feel nice and soft, so I love it for that. Plus having sun protection on my lips makes me feel good too.

And yes, it is waterproof!! I tested it and it doesn’t budge when it comes in contact with water at all, so you can always wear it(with a lippy of course, who wants to have white lips otherwise??) while you go for a swim and I can assure you that some amount of color will still be there on your lips.

Pros of Labello Sun Protect SPF 30 Waterproof Lip Balm:

  • Moisturizing.
  • Pleasant fragrance.
  • Sturdy packaging.
  • Waterproof.
  • SPF-Protection.
  • Can be used to tone down brighter colors.

Cons of Labello Sun Protect SPF 30 Waterproof Lip Balm:

  • Cannot be worn on its own as it leaves a white cast.
  • Not available in India.

IMBB Rating:

4.5/5(Minus marks for leaving a white cast)

Would I recommend/Repurchase Labello Sun Protect SPF 30 Waterproof Lip Balm?

Well honestly it’s a nice moisturizing lipbalm but I wouldn’t wear it everyday due to the white cast, so this itself would take me ages to finish. But I would recommend it to those who love some amount of SPF in everything and also if you want to tone down your bright lipsticks. It hydrates plus offers protection against the sun.

  1. Cricketer type lips… ROFL… 🙂 From where did u get this lip balm?? seems useless as a lip balm bt as u rightly mentioned can be used to tone down lipsticks…
    Great review 🙂

  2. My hubby gets me this frm Saudi…..I do have flavors in Cherry n Strawberry and they are so gud..they do leave a soft color behind which looks so cool…..nice review Roshini.

  3. I used to use this when I was in school. I remember the white lips, but I used to also think they were ‘cool’ then! 😀
    Silly me! 😛
Btw, even Nivea has chamomile, milk and honey etc.
Oh the third piccy brought back such good memories! I always used to (and still do!) twist my lipbalms up all the way atleast twice a week, just to see how much was left haha 🙂
