I did not intend to buy anything when I visited the Lakme counter. But the SA at the counter mentioned that there were some newly launched shades in Lakme 9 to 5 lipstick range. I wondered whether I should give in to my temptation of ONLY checking them out. And then came this gorgeous shade which made me give in to the temptation of buying it also. I love this shade and is the only orange shade so far which suit me and doesn’t make me look dull. I am so glad I bought it 🙂

My experience with lakme 9 to 5 saffron gossip:

Lakme 9-5 range is packed in a rose pink colored box and a similar coloured shiny case. I quite like the colour of the case. The cap locks the case firmly preventing the lipstick from drying. The “saffron gossip” is a gorgeous looking orange shade which would be suitable by and large only for fair skinned lasses. The lipstick has a creamy texture and glides smoothly on the lips. The pigmentation is also great. One swipe can give good coverage and cover all flaws.
On application it appears to be a little too bright. But it settles into a beautiful matte shade within 10 mins. It tends to be a little drying after a couple of hours but I am not complaining because only dry / matte lipsticks stay longer. The lipstick contains a little shimmer which stays behind even after the lipstick has been wiped off. The lipstick settles in to the lip lines and makes the lips look dry. A coat of a lip balm or a clear gloss solves this problem. But the other shades that I’ve tried from the Lakme 9-5 range are not so drying.
The staying power is 2-3 hours which is really good after which it leaves a light stain on the lips along with the shimmer. The lipstick is very transferable until only the stain remains.

Pros of Lakme 9 to 5 lipstick – Saffron Gossip:

• It is a gorgeous shade of orange
• It is a very wearable shade during day as well as night time
• It has a creamy texture and glides smoothly over the lips
• Good staying power which is about 4-5 hrs
• Finally settles in to a matte finish with shimmer
• The shimmer is very fine and does not cause abrasion
• Provides good pigmentation and can be built up with more swipes
• It is a budget friendly lipstick

Cons of Lakme 9 to 5 lipstick – Saffron Gossip:

• Suitable only for fair shades
• It doesn’t condition or smoothen the lips as mentioned by the company
• The lips start feeling dry after a couple of hours
• The lipstick settles in fine lines making the lips look dry and flaky
• The shimmer stays behind even after the colour wears off
• Easily transferable

IMBB Rating: 4/5 (+0.5 only for the shade)

Recommendation: Yes… I would recommend this to any one who likes orange shades but do try it out on the lips before purchasing as it may not suit all. I will definitely buy this again.
