Lakme 9 to 5 Lipstick – Satin Ruby

Lakme 9 to 5 Lipstick – Satin Ruby

Hi everyone,

I shared with you all an Inglot freedom system lipstick in 81 which was a metallic red shade, while I was reading the article I got reminded of my first metallic lipstick from Lakme. So here I am sharing a lipstick from Lakme 9 to 5 range satin ruby. I bought this lipstick 2 years back used up two or three times and totally forgot about it. It was one of my favourite dark lip colour lipsticks. Read on to know more.

The packaging of the lipstick is a pretty metallic rose gold body. These look so classy and elegant. This lipstick is from their old 9 to 5 range. The new range of 9 to 5 lipsticks still have the same colour body, the shape of the body is modified with slight changes. The only problem to pick out with these lipsticks would be some colour demarcation at the bottom of the labels to locate shades more easily.

Colour

The Lakme 9 to 5 lipstick in satin ruby is a pretty deep maroon shade with brown undertones to it. It totally brightens up my face. I have warm skin and it lifts up my face even without a heavy foundation. I stay away from dark lip colours as they tend to make my lips appear small, but I do like to have one or two deeper colours in my vanity. This shade will look super pretty on Indian brides.

Texture:

The texture of the lipstick is satiny and glides easily on lips. The lipstick has a metallic sheen with golden shimmers. The shimmer is finely milled and blends well with the colour. It is definitely not chunky. The lipstick settles down to a semi matte metallic finish which I love. The semi matte metallic finish texture is pretty and makes it wearable even for a person like me, I really don’t prefer metallic shimmer lipsticks. The lipstick being semi matte is not super drying but you need to moisturize your lips before applying it for a better finish.

Pigmentation

The lipstick has medium pigmentation, I require three swipes to get full colour pay off on my pigmented lips.
Staying power

The lipstick has good staying time. It wears around five hours on me. Again the thing bothering is the glitter, similar to Inglot 81 shade. The glitter will get sparsely deposited on the lips after the colour is faded. When I remove the lipstick with a makeup remover, I have noticed the colour is removed and the shimmer is still left on the lips. You need to use the makeup remover few more times to completely get rid of the shimmer. This is a downside to all shimmer lipsticks.

Repurchase and recommendation:

Yes, I am planning to buy the Lakme absolute matte lip color in satin ruby to replace this colour in my stash as this lipstick is outdated. I recommend it to you to try it once even if you don’t like metallic finish lipsticks as the lipstick sets into semi matte metallic finish. You can skip it if you totally don’t like even little metallic finish in lipsticks and not fond of dark lip colours.
