I get all excited about any new lipstick launch. I have had a particularly nice experience with the Lakme 9 to 5 lipsticks in the past. My favourite shade till date is “Rosy Sunday” from the 9 to 5 range. I picked up a few shades from this new “Primer + Matte” range which has shades similar to their previous line of 9 to 5 with an addition of few new reds and pinks. Here is what I got – “Maroon Mix.”

My Experience with Lakme 9 to 5 Primer + Matte Lipstick Maroon Mix:
This color is apt for a sophisticated 25+ office goer. Personally, I feel it is a nice muted maroon color. This can be called a mix of brown and mauve tones. This is subtle and perfect for day and office wear. You might not find it perky enough if you are a teenager but the color is a beautiful one.
Coming to the texture, the texture is very similar to the previous 9 to 5 with the only exception that I find the formula has a waxier feel to it. This could be the primer element which fills up lip lines as you swipe and it also feels it makes your lipstick stay put.
The formula is not super creamy but it has this “no-nonsense” thick opaque finish to it. I love it! It gives you true matte opaque color in one go, it feels like it will never bleed. It has no moisture element to it, but still it is not dry or flaky at all. It has a soft enough feel to it to keep normal lips alright, but if you have dry flaky lips, you might crave a little balm on it.
For me, it is perfect, as I don’t have dry lips. The “flawless base” and the “pigmented” tags are true to claim. The 12-hour claim could be a little far fetched, it stays put for 5 hours but the intensity may wear off in between. I love the way it shapes the lips, stays put, never bleeds and is true matte.
Pros of Lakme 9 to 5 Primer + Matte Lipstick Maroon Mix:

- Does not feel dry on my normal lips.

Cons of Lakme 9 to 5 Primer + Matte Lipstick Maroon Mix:
- If you have very dry flaky lips, you will need to think twice about it.
- Does transfer, it is not transfer-resistant.
- Though it is a new range, I believe the shades are repetitive and clash with the “9 to 5” range.
- 12-hour claim is far fetched.
Would I Repurchase Lakme 9 to 5 Primer + Matte Lipstick Maroon Mix?
Yes for sure, I would and in many other shades too as I love my mattes and this 9 to 5 range has never let me down.
