Lakme 9 to 5 Primer + Matte Lipstick Ruby Rush Review

If you have read my review on “Maroon Mix,” from Lakme’s new 9 to 5 Primer + Matte range, you will know what I am talking about in this post. This is a new line of lipsticks from Lakme where they have kept most of the old shades from 9 to 5 in an improvised texture with an added primer feature. So far so good, and I picked up some bold reds from this collection. “Ruby Rush” is one such color.

My Experience with Lakme 9 to 5 Primer + Matte Lipstick Ruby Rush:

“Ruby Rush” is a classic bright pink plus coral shade. I am sure all of us own one such shade in our stash.

If worn lightly, this could pass for a light red coral. Once you layer, this looks brighter and slightly more pink to me. This does not smudge easily though it does transfer on to tea cups etc. This lipstick has a nice, soft formula without being on the creamy or moisturising side. Although I don’t need a balm or a gloss, women with dry or flaky lips will not be able to do justice to this sort of a matte formula.

The “flawless base” and the “pigmented” tags are true to the claims made. The 12-hour claim could be a little far fetched, it stays put for 5 hours but the intensity may wear off in between.

I love the way it shapes up the lips, stays put, never bleeds, and is true matte. This formula is absolutely matte without the powdery or dry feeling. This lipstick could even sit well without a lip liner around the mouth. The texture is such that is shapes and hugs the lips and does not budge or bleed.

Pros of Lakme 9 to 5 Primer + Matte Lipstick Ruby Rush:

• Bold coral pink sort of a color.
• Good for fair to medium skin tones.
• Thick yet not drying.
• Never bleeds due to the matte yet soft formula.
• Feels opaque in one or two swipes.
• Fills lip lines well due to the primer formula.
• Does not feel dry on my normal lips.
• Highly pigmented as they claim.
• True to the color in the tube, translates well on to the lips.
• Glam packaging in shiny rose gold case.
• Lot of shades to choose from, everyone has to own at least one of these!

Cons of Lakme 9 to 5 Primer + Matte Lipstick Ruby Rush:

• If you have very dry flaky lips, you will crave a lip balm or gloss over it.
• It transfers though not easily, it is not transfer resistant.
• The 12-hour claims is far fetched, 5-6 hours of lasting power is a good way to put it.
• This shade is slightly bold if you are not used to such bright corals.

Would I Repurchase Lakme 9 to 5 Primer + Matte Lipstick Ruby Rush?
Because I have loved and owned so many of these 9 to 5 in mattes and creaseless formulas, I had high hopes from this range and so far I am happy with these lipsticks that I purchased.
