Hello peeps,

Lakme recently came up with some pretty matte shades in their “9 to 5” Crease-Less lipstick range and most of them are dark shades. Although I am not really into dark “vampy” lipstick colors, there were two maroon red shades that I liked from this collection, so I thought of checking them out. Today, I am going to review “Maroon Match” in this post. Let’s see how this lipstick looks on my skin tone 🙂

My Experience with Lakme 9 to 5 Maroon Match Crease-Less Matte Lip Color:

Packaging: This Lakme 9 to 5 matte lipstick comes in the signature 9 to 5 rose gold packaging which looks super attractive and feminine. We all love rose gold, so I think it’s a clever packaging. The twist-up mechanism for this lipstick bullet did not work well, but I haven’t had such issue with the other lipsticks from this range. This lipstick has been priced well and matches the quality, so no complaints there.

Shade: “Maroon Match” is a pretty maroon color with loads of deep cranberry red and brown hints. It can be described as a muddy maroon shade, but it looks pretty. This color can add a lot of oomph to your makeup look. It is a lipstick shade that will complement Indian skin tones beautifully. Earlier, maroon lipsticks were mostly worn by mature ladies, but now, it has become a versatile shade. It brightens up my complexion, making me look fairer, taking attention away from the imperfections on my face. It is a bold color, so it will nicely cover pigmentation on the lips.

Finish and Pigmentation: The finish of the lipstick is super matte, as the brand claims. The lipstick does impart a matte finish, but it dries out the lips after a while. The pigmentation is really good and the entire color gets deposited on the lips in the first swipe itself, but I apply two swipes to make the color more intense.

Staying Power: The staying power of this lipstick is pretty good. It stays on for around 4-5 hours, which is really good considering the price point. Matte lipsticks usually stay longer and so did this one. It does not settle into the fine lines and might accentuate dry patches on the lips a little, but scrubbing the lips prior to application or using a lip balm, would sort it out.

It does survive meals, but a little color gets ripped off every time I eat or sip. I am very happy with the staying power though. It’s a perfect lipstick, so go ahead and choose your shades from the “9 to 5 creaseless lipstick” range.
