I have been using Lakme Complexion Care Cream for a long time now and I so love that product. I am not a makeup person, but was tempted to buy this product. The new Lakme 9 to 5 Primer + Matte Powder Foundation is an addition to their 9 to 5 Primer + Matte range; the lipsticks being the first. Read on to know how this one fared.
Price: INR 600 for 9 g
Say hello to the all new foundation by Lakmé that now comes in a compact format. Conveniently chic! This foundation delivers even coverage that is buildable by nature. It conceals fine lines and effortlessly spreads over your skin. It’s a foundation that has an in-built primer and comes in a powder format. Available in 6 shades, it’s ideal for women with oily skin with it’s long lasting matte finish.
Step 1: Take some compact on a powder puff. Shake the puff to remove any excess powder. Step 2: Wipe your face with the compact puff in long, even strokes. The strokes should move from the inside, to the outside. Step 3: Wet it if you want to use it like a foundation base. Step 4: Even apply it all over your face. Don’t forget your neck area.
The compact comes in a square cardboard packaging which has product description over it. The packaging is quite sturdy and looks like the normal Lakme 9 to 5 range of products. The actual product comes in a rose gold reflective case. The packaging’s lower lid is made of plastic to avoid damage. I love this rose gold packaging since it looks super stylish.
The product has separate sections for the product and the applicator puff. The lower lid – which is meant for the applicator puff – has small holes in it for air circulation and ventilation. This would also help the puff to breathe and avoid bacteria or fungus, even when wet. The compact comes with a protective plastic sheet and a built-in mirror.
One thing I noticed was that there is a slight space between the product and the container. Not a major flaw, but thought this was worth mentioning. This is travel-friendly but one word of caution here – the product is very fragile so you need to be extra careful. It will break if dropped.
My Experience with Lakme 9 to 5 Primer + Matte Powder Foundation:
The Lakmé 9 to 5 Primer + Matte Powder Foundation is the ultimate product with its ability to eliminate elaborate makeup routines. This comes in 6 beautiful shades; all suitable for the Indian skin tones. The best part about these shades is that they have introduced 2 new shades that are best suited for deeper skin tones. I picked up ‘Silky Golden’, which matches my skin tone the best.
Now, let’s talk about its texture. The texture is very creamy, smooth and silky. It blends in without much effort and gives a light and good coverage. It doesn’t leave a white cast and gives a flawless matte finish. It is quite pigmented too. Now talking about its staying power. I think this will work well for all skin types, especially oily skin. It lasts a good 4-5 hours on my skin after which I have to do a touch-up.
Dry skinned beauties may need to moisturize well before using this or it may get a little cakey. It failed to live up to its claims of concealing lines, pores and blemishes (if you have too many). I used a concealer and then this foundation and it worked like magic. So, if your skin is at its best, this is for you. Otherwise, you may need a little bit of concealer and foundation as a filler. This can be used dry as well as wet. The product tends to look a little patchy after a while if I use it wet.
It blends smoothly with the sponge applicator, but I was curious to try it with the brush as well (as makeup junkies do). I tried using it with a brush but spilt a lot of powder all over. I am giving it a benefit of doubt since I am a novice at this. Overall, a superb all-in-one product for your day and night makeup. Use it as per your style and build it up or down for the best coverage.
