Lakme Absolute Bi-Phased Makeup Remover Review

Yesterday found me in Shopper’s Stop again and then my first trip to the Inglot store and Gloshop too in the Express Avenue Mall (Chennai readers would know Gloshop).  I always try to keep an eye out for new releases and since yesterday I could find the new Lakme Makeup Remover, I picked it up.

When Lakme Absolute has a good range of makeup and makeup brushes, which I have reviewed already, it seems fair enough that they have their own pretty makeup remover as well.

Now, my first thought on this one is that the color reminds me of the Maybelline’s makeup remover, the one we have all heard of.  I think the Maybelline remover’s price has been hiked and this one is for Rs. 210 for 60 ml, but I am very sure the price of this will be hiked very soon in line with the other Absolute range prices. Now, the matte lipsticks from Lakme Absolute cost Rs. 395 and not Rs. 375 and so on. So, I was really eager to try this one.

Since I don’t have the Maybelline remover to compare with, I compared it with the older Lakme Nine to Five Dual Action Makeup Remover.  Of course both work on the same philosophy of an oil-based remover. We all have used baby oil to remove our stubborn mascara, so I totally love this concept of oil and water any day for oily skin.

I was not as impressed with the Lakme Nine to Five Makeup Remover as I am with this one.  This one has more concentration of oil I feel and I could get all my makeup off, especially eye (including mascara) and lip makeup off with it with two cotton pads (I take one pad for half of my face 😛 I don’t know why).  I spray it at least four times and use one pad for one side of the face because its tough to get the mascara off. For that, I let it sit for 30 seconds and then it comes off and I swipe the under eye with a clean pad as well. Overall, I am very impressed with this one, because I could see my fresh skin after wearing makeup for about 7 hours from when I went to the mall, came back, hurriedly cooked and then removed my makeup.

One thing I like about this one is that it leaves skin brighter and fresher, but the con about it is that it leaves more oil residue on the skin, but I like to use a face wash after makeup removal or may be a scrub, hence I am ready to make do with it.  Dry skin will not find it a problem.

For the comparison, I have used all long stay smudge proof makeup that is eye pencils, Chambor liquid lip color and another lip color that sets.

Another one I tried to remove is the staining naked pink lipstick from Colorbar in the picture.  As you can see, Lakme bi-phased one works better in one swipe.  The only problem is the plum lipstick that takes time to get off, but still goes away in four swipes. With the Lakme Nine to Five Makeup Remover, I had to rub it hard more than 6 times. On regular makeup, both work fine, but my favourite is the new Lakme Absolute.  The Nine to Five remover also costs lesser for 120 ml, that is Rs. 295 for 120 ml as compared to the Absolute one, which is Rs. 210 for 60 ml.  Personally, I like the smaller version which is convenient for me in every way.

Last Word:

Considering it is new, it should be have been better than the Nine to Five and it is! I am very impressed with this product, the price of Rs. 210, and also how it leaves my skin fresher. The only teeny meeny issue is that it may leave more oil on the skin than I would want it to, since I have oily skin.  This one is an answer to the Maybelline makeup remover we all like and I definitely recommend this Lakme Absolute Bi-Phase one to everyone.

P.S.:  Tiny haul from Inglot, reviews coming up soon 🙂 Also, new 4 Lakme eye pencil swatches and review.

I never used any make up remover till date as i am regular with my CTM routine which helps in removing my makeup. So do i really need to use make up removers specifically ?
