As you all know I picked up 5 shades from the new Lakme absolute illuminating range and here I am with the darkest shade of the lot called “Burgundy Beam”. I haven’t really been into such shades but thought of giving it a shot! Let’s see how this mature shade worked for me.

My Experience with Lakme Absolute Burgundy Beam Illuminating Lip Shimmer:
Packaging: I am so happy that Lakme finally added a new touch to their packaging. The lipstick comes in a basic black box with the description and shade name. And inside sits the lip colour. The packaging of the lipstick is deep charcoal grey with white fonts. It does look classy and elegant. It looks a lot similar to the Lakme’s skin gloss skincare range. The lipstick has a label at the bottom stating the colour, I wish there was some colour-coding too. The lipstick is super handy and the cap closes with a click, so no way of the bullet getting harmed.
Shade: “Burgundy beam” is a very deep midnight burgundy shade with a lot of violet hints. It is super dark and comes up on the lips in the very first swipe. I just feel that for my complexion, it is too dark. It is just too vampy and I really cannot handle this shade. This shade will not suit the younger generation because I feel it takes away all the innocence. It is more targeted towards the mature ladies probably who have crossed their 40’s. It has little silvery shimmers which are not highly visible initially, hence they give a little metallic sheen.
Consistency and Pigmentation: The consistency is super smooth and buttery which is why it glides very easily on the lips. Just a swipe and I have the pop of colour on my lips. It looks a bit too frosty initially but later settles down looking great. I build it up a little to make the colour look more intense. But after a few hours especially after meals, I can see a huge difference in the texture. It dries out my already dry lips and clings to dry patches on my lips. Also the shimmers become much more visible since the colour gets ripped off after meals.
Staying Power: The staying power is somewhere around 4-5 hours with heavy meals since after a meal, 50% of the colour gets ripped off and all I can see is a little colour and shimmers. Without food, it will stay for 5-6 hours. It does transfer a little It settles in fine lines after meals.
So in all some good lipsticks for the festive season or parties, but I don’t like shimmers that much, so I would still favour the other ranges from Lakme!

• Amazingly pigmented.
• Soft texture which glides smoothly on my lips.
• Burgundy beam is a very dark and bold vampy deep midnight burgundy with violet hints.
• A good shade for ladies above 40.
• Suitable for medium to dusky skin-tones.
• Gives a glossy illuminating shine to my lips.
• Lasts for 4-5 hours with a meal and 5-6 without food.
• Easy to remove.
Cons of Lakme Absolute Burgundy Beam Illuminating Lip Shimmer:
• Shimmers are highly visible after meals.
• Dries out my lips after a couple of hours.
• Looks pretty tacky after 3 hours or so.
• Not everyone would like shimmers.
• Looks too dark on fair skin-tone.
• Too vampy and dark.
• Transfers a little and clings to patches after meals.

Will I Repurchase/Recommend Lakme Absolute Burgundy Beam Illuminating Lip Shimmer?
I personally did not like this shades as it is just too dark to handle. If you are into such shades that give it a try at the counter but according to me, the range has better shades to choose from.
Conclusion:
I like the other ranges more than this one because shimmers are not my cup of tea, I like their gloss addict and sculpted matte range more.
