My Experiences with Lakme Absolute Chestnut Shimmer Illuminating Lip Shimmer:

Here comes another brown from this range, Chestnut Shimmer. I will begin with the packaging of the product as always. The lipstick comes in a simple black cardboard packaging. This outer packaging contains all necessary details about the product except its ingredients list, which is missing in all Lakme lipsticks. I do not understand why don’t they just add the ingredients list to the packaging. Inside this cardboard packaging, sits a nice glossy charcoal gray lipstick tube, which bears the range’s tagline in white fonts.

The cap of the lipstick shuts with a click sound. The lipstick comes with a regular twist-up mechanism but with an additional locking system which ensures the safety of the bullet. There is a circular label at the base of the tube which indicates the shade name. Overall, the lipstick is very handy, easy to carry and purse-friendly.

“Chestnut Shimmer” is a deep plum or maroon kind of shade with loads of shimmers. It has some reddish undertones. The lipstick has so many silver shimmers finely milled into it. These shimmers impart an “illuminating” effect to the lips. The shimmers are highly visible but do not look chunky. The shade is very bright and it is such a pretty bridal shade. But, it gives me a vampy look. It is a little too dark for my lips. It will suit almost every Indian skin tone, but it will flatter wheatish to dark skin tones better.

Mature ladies can pull this kind of shade off better. It does not look very flattering on me. The lipstick has a mild fragrance, which might be bothering for some. The lipstick is actually insanely pigmented. It gives that intense opaque finish in one go. It nicely hides the pigmentation of the lips. The colour is intense and bold. It takes two swipes for the color to build up properly with good intensity and finish. The lipstick sets to a velvety finish. Though it is shimmery, it does not look frosty. The lipstick is richly pigmented but it does not stain the lips.

Texture wise, the lipstick is amazing. It has a nice creamy texture, which facilitates effortless gliding of the lipstick without any tugging or pulling. It feels super smooth and is easy to glide. The lipstick is lightweight and does not feel heavy even upon layering. The formula is creamy, which leads to transferring of the product. The lipstick is moisturizing in nature but it will surely dry out very dry lips after a few hours of application. It clings and highlights the dry patches of the lips. So, prepping the lips prior application is advisable. The lipstick does not budge at all.

The lipstick is long-lasting. It lasts for more than 6 hours on my lips, if it rests untouched. It does survive full meal easily and stays for approx. 4 hours. But, the colour loses is intensity with meals and shimmers present in the lipstick look more prominent. Removing the lipstick as well as the shimmers is super easy and hassle-free. It does not stain the lips either. Overall, this range offers really pretty shades to rock the festivals and weddings, but still I will prefer its matte range.

Yes, the quality is great if you like such metallic browns. But, I will stick to Lakme Sculpt Hi-Definition Matte range.
