Hello everybody, welcome to December, which, in my opinion, is the best month of the year, as we take out our woollies, sip hot soup, look forward to the Christmas festivities, do some hectic shopping for gifts, get ready for 31st December, and et all! As for me, it’s also the busiest month of the year, but I’m not complaining, as I love the hustle bustle this time of the year.
Today, I will be reviewing an eye crayon from the new Lakme Absolute Drama Stylist Eye Shadow Crayons range, in the shade ‘Olive’. By the way, one of my close friend’s name is Olive, and, believe me, she has the most awesome, beautiful green eyes, I could keep staring into her eyes all day long! Anyway, back to the review, these are available in 8 shades, a brown, a blue, a white, a purple, a pink, an olive green, a darker green (I think) and a silver-black. I saw only 5 of these at the counter, and picked up this one and the black one.
These come in a sharpenable crayon form, thicker than your normal eye pencil or kajal, but not as ‘fat’ as the usual crayon sticks that come in lipstick form in various brands. They have no outer packaging, except for a sealed cellophane wrap over it.
My Experience with Lakme Absolute Drama Eye Shadow Crayon in the shade ‘Olive’ :
This crayon eyeshadow is a beautiful olive green shade, which contains silver shimmer. It glides across the eyelid smooth as silk and soft like anything, and one has to blend/smudge it real quick if you plan to use it as an eyeshadow, as it sets almost immediately. The beauty of this is that you can create a beautiful eye look within minutes, without the hassle of searching for your eyeshadow brush – just apply and smudge and blend it out as you go upwards towards the crease, add a little brow bone highlighter, and you are done. You also have an added benefit of using this as a eyeliner OVER what you have already blended out earlier, by pressing it a bit harder to get a darker line, or this can be used as a pencil eyeliner on its own. However, I found that even though these were sealed, they did not come ready with a sharp point, rather it was a little more than a stub, as you will see from the photos, so I wonder why this was so. My gut feeling is that these, being so soft and smooth, may be prone to breakage, so hence, the small stub to start with. However, once it sets, it is completely smudge-proof, waterproof, long-wearing and stays in place and does not budge until you remove it with a waterproof eyemakeup remover. It also did not crease on my oily eyelids, which I found really remarkable, as I clicked some of my photos after I had returned from an evening out, having worn this well for nearly 3 to 4 hours.
Let’s come to the Pros and Cons :
Pros of Lakme Absolute Drama Stylist Eye Shadow Crayon in ‘Olive’ :
• A beautiful soft olive green colour with shimmer which is not over the top.
• Blends really well and smoothly, with hardly any extra effort.
• Feels smooth and soft as you glide it over the eyelid.
• Smudgeproof and budgeproof.
• Waterproof.
• Long-wearing.
• Great for creating a green smokey eye look.
• Good range of shades available.
• Does not crease.
• Can be used as an eyeliner as well.
• Suitable for all complexions.
Cons of Lakme Absolute Drama Stylist Eye Shadow Crayon in ‘Olive’ :
• Bit on the expensive side.
• Needs a light hand for sharpening.
IMBB Rating : 4.75 on 5.
I am now on the lookout for the pink shade, and also the purple one, so I would surely be re-purchasing this in other shades, and yes, get a back-up of this one as well!
