Lakme Absolute Gel Stylist Nail Paint – Nude Glow

Hi Beauties,

We often want some light color nail paint shades; especially after a continuous phase of darker ones. A truly beautiful light color nail polish shade makes your nails look absolutely polished and beautiful. It may be a nu*ish shade; or any lighter shades of white, coral, pink, lavender. It is an essential step in a French manicure nails. They look absolutely natural, beautiful; and have a gorgeous shine and polished look. Lakme introduced this series of nail paint last year; when the rage of Gel nail paints was at its peak throughout the world. These nail paints are not actual gel nail paints; but are supposed to look like one. I bought three shades from this range; and am reviewing the shade “Nu*e Glow” from this range.

About the product:

Nails are fast becoming the next big beauty accessory for today’s fashionable woman who seeks professional and salon based expertise to achieve highly styled nails. Inspired by this insight, the breakthrough Lakmé Absolute Gel Stylist range packs the performance of a gel manicure in a bottle to ensure glossy and plump nails in a single stroke.

This break-through product range aims to introduce the global trend of gel based manicures in the country. It comes with a highly pigmented colour formula to ensure super glossy and plump nails. A singular simple stroke delivers rich colour and a high gloss finish that stays for long. The Absolute Gel Stylist comes in exciting shades ranging from tomato tang, coral flush to nudes like nude glow and caramel melt. The range is your very own manicurist in a bottle giving you an unmatchable shine and the most perfectly styled nails.

Pop some colour please! Lakme Absolute Gel Stylist Nail polish has a glossy formula that glides onto the nails and delivers rich, vibrant color. Apply one layer for a semi-transparent touch of color or two layers for a more intense result.
The chip-resistant formula ensures polish will last. Infused with an amazing luminescent ingredient that enhances color and overall shine, it also features a fast-drying agent that gives you a smooth, flawless finish in no time.
How to use: First apply a basecoat of clear nail polish for a smooth surface to work on. Place a drop of polish at the bottom of the nail, just enough to cover your entire nail. Spread the polish in even strokes. Apply a second coat once the first coat dries for a richer color.

My experience with Lakme Absolute Gel Stylist Nail Paint – Nude Glow:

I bought three nail polish shades from this range last year. While I actually liked the swatches of the other two while buying them, it was more of a curiosity which made me buy this shade. And as they say-“Curiosity killed the Cat”. It has proved absolutely true for me in this case.

The nail polish comes in a standard glass bottle, containing 14ml of product. It has a brush applicator, which is wide, and fans out on the nail; so that coating the nail can be done easily in a single stroke itself. The consistency is a bit thicker than any other standard nail polish; which gives a gel like feel to the entire experience. It goes on easily, does not streak or bubble on the nails at all. So far, so good.
But , I feel that this gel like consistency has spelled a doom for this particular shade at least. The shade is named “Nu*e Glow”; and most nu*e shades have a much thinner consistency. They give an almost colorless shine to the nails; with a hint of pink in it; so that the nails look naturally beautiful and healthy. But here, due to the thicker consistency, this will not sit colorless(nu*e) on your nails. It will coat your nails with a thick coating; and if you are used to putting 2 coats of nail paint; what you have on nails is not “Nu*e”, but a white nail paint. This is the main reason why I will be taking off some brownie points from this shade.

Another thing which I totally fail to understand is the time it takes to dry. Well, if Lakme was introducing Gel-like nail paints which will give beautiful shine; they should also have given a quick drying time to these just like any other gel nail paints. And this is where this one fails miserable. I have waited and waited and waited; for two long hours; not doing anything; not scratching myself; not going to the loo; in fact doing nothing except just watching tv. And then I touch my nails tentatively; and Voila…it has dried. But what do I see the next day; Bedsheet marks on my nails…..’O…Horror of all horrors”. I have even put Inglot Dry and Shine drops on these; but even Inglot fails here.

Well, apart from that; nu*e, or in this case white color will make your hands look darker; and any oil and spices from food will totally dis-color it. So these shades have to be maintained; and maintained properly.

Pros of Lakme Absolute Gel Stylist Nail Paint – Nude Glow:

• Gorgeous shades
• Nude Glow is an almost Nu*-ish shade; which looks better in the bottle than on the nails; in fact it looks almost creamy to white on the nails
• The brush applicator is flat; and extremely convenient to use
• The nail polish gives a very nice shine on to the nails
• It applies very fast
• It applies smoothly; without any unevenness, or bubbles in it.
• Thicker than normal nail polish gives it a gel like feel
• Removal is easy with a standard nail polish remover
• Availability is good

Cons of Lakme Absolute Gel Stylist Nail Paint – Nude Glow:

• Does not retain shine for more than 2-3 days.
• Starts chipping by day 4.
• Is expensive; considering the brand and the fact that this is not an actual gel nail polish.
• Takes an extremely long time to dry; in-spite of quick drying solutions; you will most definitely get bedsheet marks on it.
• Cannot be used for a nu*-ish; transparent and healthy glow to your nails.
• Cannot be used for French Manicure purpose.
• Will stain with oil and spices in food.

IMBB rating:

Will I repurchase Lakme Absolute Gel Stylist Nail Paint – Nude Glow?

Not this shade; no.Never again in my life. No nu*eness; no glow; no healthy sheen on nails. I might as well apply a clear nail base coat.

This is indeed a very pale kind of nude…i mean, nude is supposed to make you look healthy in a natural kinda way, be it in lip color or nails..this one looks bimar types 🙁 maybelline colorshow wala n*de is available at a quarter of the price and a much better shade

  2. Thnx kadambari… U r exactly correct… I have always wanted the french manicure style nu*e shade… And this is definitely not it

  3. Even Inglot Dry and Shine failed on it :O I seriously detest the nail paints which take so much time to dry and I always put marks on my clothes and they are so hard to wash off. 🙁 It’s unbelievable that Lakme is charging 400 bucks for this!
