Today, I am here to review a very popular product from Lakmé. Most of us love Lakme, don’t we? Regardless of the age, every woman surely has at least one product from this brand in her vanity. Be it the old fashioned liquid foundation or the satin lipsticks. It does not matter how highly priced new launches from Lakme usually are, we all try to get our hands on them. I always wanted to review this gloss by Lakmé. So, let’s start!
Extra shine, extra plump and extra glossy! The revolutionary plump & shine lip gloss contains marine collagen & high shine pigments that keeps your lips full & hydrated.
• High shine pigments
• Marine collagen
• Revolutionary 3d gloss
• Lasts up to 6 hrs
• Dermatologically tested
The product comes in a cylindrical, transparent tube with a metallic grayish-black cap. The gloss comes with the common doe-foot sponge applicator. The applicator picks up only a tiny amount of gloss at once. So, one will need to dip the applicator several times in the tube to apply the gloss properly on lips.
You’ll find the shade name only at the cap of the tube, which is written in black font, And, it needs an effort to look at the shade name properly under poor light. With time, the shade name gets erased. I think a sticker with the shade name would have been better. The gloss tube is made of strong fiber material that won’t crack or break, if gets fallen accidentally. Overall, it is a classy packaging.
My Experience with Lakme Absolute Gold Shimmer Plump & Shine 3D Lip Gloss:
Shade: Gold Shimmer is a natural brownish-beige shade with tiny, but, concentrated fuchsia pink and silver shimmers in it. The gloss is not a golden shade. Actually, it is not a metallic shade. It’ll be fair to call it a perfect nude gloss. The shade would look great on fair to medium skin tones, and I would insist dusky beauties to skip this shade. Though, it’s a nice neutral color, the sparkly shimmers in it are quite noticeable. Therefore, can make dark complexions or pigmented lips look unpleasant.
The shade is perfect to wear on parties and on evenings especially because the shimmer appears as if you have put some crushed gem to your lips. I would say the shade is more apt for women, not girls. It appears so neutral that would complement only mature skin. You can wear this color to office and colleges, if the shimmers don’t bother you. The shade looks way too subtle in real, doesn’t appear as sparkly as in the swatches.
Texture, Finish and Pigmentation: The gloss has a nice, smooth and thick gel like texture to it. The consistency of this gloss is a little on the thicker side and is not very gloopy. The gloss is not very sticky and feels very comfortable and super hydrating on lips, as it claims. It keeps my lips hydrated throughout the day and does not exaggerate my flaky lips. The gloss doesn’t bleed like other glosses. The gloss gives a nice 3D glossy effect on the lips. It gives enough color to cover the imperfections and mute the natural color of my lips, with just one layer. Because the applicator picks up only a small amount of gloss, you’ll need 2-3 swipes to spread the color evenly on lips.
Staying Power: The gloss lasts on me for 4 hours, without meals. The intensity of the color starts fading after 3 hours. If I don’t eat or drink anything in between, it manages to stay for one more hour. Being a glossy product, it transfers easily to cups etc; so, eating or drinking can make the gloss wear off too soon from the lips.
Pros of Lakme Absolute Gold Shimmer Plump & Shine 3D Lip Gloss:
• A neutral brownish-beige color.
• Perfect shade to wear to office and parties both. Because of the concentrated light emitting shimmers in it.
• Nice creamy, smooth texture that glides effortlessly on lips.
• The thickness of the gloss, gives decent hydration to lips.
• The gloss gives a nice, healthy and 3D glossy effect to the lips.
• Despite being a gloss, the pigmentation is decent enough to cover tiny imperfections.
• Packaging looks nice, sleek and sturdy.
• Doesn’t bleed or feel sticky on lips.
• Stays on for 3-4 hours, without meals which is quite good for a gloss.
Cons of Lakme Absolute Gold Shimmer Plump & Shine 3D Lip Gloss:
• The concentrated shimmers in the gloss can be bothersome for many.
• The applicator picks up very less amount of product. Hence, multiple applications are required to even out the product.
• The shade may not suit darker skin tones.
• The tiny, but, easily perceptible shimmers keep sticking to the lips, even after the gloss has faded.
• The gloss won’t survive meals.
• The shade may be too natural for some as per their liking.
Would I Repurchase/Recommend Lakme Absolute Gold Shimmer Plump & Shine 3D Lip Gloss?
Yes! If you love to wear neutral glosses with just a mild shine to it and also if you’re a fair complexioned beauty, this gloss is definitely for you. Beauties with darker complexion or pigmented lips can skip this. Even though this shade looks awesome on me, it is a little too light for my liking. I’ll definitely not buy this shade again.
I don’t regret my choice of getting this. The shade is meant to be a perfect nude color, with some brownish hint to it. The staying power of this gloss is quite satisfactory and has hydrating properties too. It might not suit all the Indian skin tones well because of the shimmer.
