I have already introduced this range in an earlier post and reviewed one pretty pink shade. So now I would jump onto the other shades that I picked up. The shade for the day is “scarlet magic”! My Experience with Lakme Absolute Illuminating Lip Shimmer – Scarlet Magic:
Packaging: I am so happy that Lakme finally added a new touch to their packaging. The lipstick comes in a basic black box with the description and shade name. And inside sits the lip colour. The packaging of the lipstick is deep charcoal grey with white fonts. It does look classy and elegant. It looks a lot similar to the Lakme’s skin gloss skincare range. The lipstick has a label at the bottom stating the colour; I wish there was some colour-coding too. The lipstick is super handy and the cap closes with a click, so no way of the bullet getting harmed.
Shade: The shade “Scarlet magic” is a super bright and a gorgeous orange shade with a lot of red hints. I would term it as a reddish orange. It is a very fresh and a vibrant shade and it makes face look brighter and glowing instantly. It is one of those beautiful orange which is suitable for all the skin-tones but it is just for those wouldn’t mind wearing shimmers. It has little gold micro-shimmers and big pink shimmers which give it that metallic illuminating look. It will look really good for festive seasons and parties if you can handle this shade.
Consistency and pigmentation: The consistency is super smooth and buttery which is why it glides very easily on the lips. Just a swipe and I have the pop of colour on my lips. It looks a bit too frosty initially but later settles down looking great. I build it up a little to make the colour look more intense. But after a few hours especially after meals, I can see a huge difference in the texture. It dries out my already dry lips and clings to dry patches on my lips. Also the shimmers become much more visible since the colour gets ripped off after meals.
Staying power: The staying power is somewhere around 3-4 hours with heavy meals since after a meal, 50% of the colour gets ripped off and all I can see is a little colour and shimmers. Without food, it will stay for 5-6 hours. It does transfer a little but settles in fine lines after meals.
So in all some good lipsticks for the festive season or parties, but I don’t like shimmers that much, so I would still favour the other ranges from Lakme!

• Shimmers are highly visible after meals
• Dries out my lips after a couple of hours
• Looks pretty tacky after 3 hours or so
• Not everyone would like shimmers
• Transfers a little and clings to patches after meals

Will I Repurchase/Recommend Lakme Absolute Illuminating Lip Shimmer – Scarlet Magic?
I wouldn’t get these again as I already have 5 of these and recommend if you are comfortable with shimmers. These can make some good lipsticks for the festive season or parties.
Conclusion: I like the other ranges more than this one because shimmers are not my cup of tea; I like their gloss addict and sculpted matte range more.
