Lakme Absolute Lip Tint – Orange Tease Review

Lakme Absolute Lip Tint – Orange Tease Review

Hello, all you beautiful people,

Two days ago, I was browsing through different channels on my TV and all the sudden, I saw this ad with Kareena Kapoor, she was dressed in orange, and she had two different shades of lipstick on, pink on the top lip and orange on the bottom, I think. The ad was for their new line of lip tint and nail polish and the moment they said limited edition, my behind jumped out of the sofa and I yelled “mom, we have to go to the mall right now!” and in my mind “I have to be the first one to review this on IMBB.” That’s how much I love this place, every time I see a product, I automatically think “has this been reviewed on IMBB.” So, my mother didn’t take me to the mall that day, but I did drag her the very next day.

There are 8 shades. This collection just came out a few days ago. The SA told me its a Shopper’s Stop exclusive for some time and she even told me that if these become a hit, Lakme will add them to the permanent collection. It’s part of the Lakme Fashion Week Limited Edition Collection right now. They have even launched nail polishes with this.  I fell in love with the polishes. They are totally my style, neons!

I swatched all colors at the counter and I got a little disappointed. I was so excited about the collection that I didn’t pay attention to the big word “TINT.” I was imagining them to be a lip pencil. My heart fell a little when the swatches came out light and glossy.  All the tints glided on my skin like a dream though, they were so smooth and velvety. I thought the orange one was the most pigmented, well no, there was a maroonish one that was pretty pigmented, but I don’t like such dark colors, so I decided to buy the orange one because it stood out among the rest.

Personally, I thought the other colors were very shimmery and sparkly (but I would still buy them all), and I was kind of expecting some bold colors because of the ad, but there were a lot of pinks and browns going on.

The very first thing I did once I got home was to go the nearest mirror and try the lip tint on. Let me tell you, I have dry lips. No matter what season, my lips are always dry and peeling. But boy did my lips turn baby soft as soon as this tint glided on my lips. There was no tug or pull, it just glided on. These tints are very moisturizing. This color is along the lines of Inglot 38 (but this one is bit more orange and glossy) and Captivating Coral, which I had reviewed some time ago.

The lip tint survived snacking, which was very surprising since it’s so creamy, I thought the color would rub off with my cookies (okay so cookies sounds lame, should I say my McVities Digestives, 😛 I am so lame). When I checked the mirror after eating, I was shocked to see the color still intact on my lips, but, sadly the color turns 2-3 shades lighter if you eat a full meal.

The staying power is average. It stayed on for 2-3 hours, maybe more if you don’t eat or snack. But, after an hour or so it starts bleeding. It is a bit transferable. This color will suit all skin tones. I have a dusky complexion and this color added a glow to my face.

There is only 50% lipstick in that big tube. The lipstick bullet is only half an inch bigger than any average size lipstick. Basically, 50% of the space in the tube is empty. I feel cheated; I was expecting the bullet to be as tall as the tube.  But, overall, my lips stayed hydrated and soft all day. This is a perfect orange, with a touch of red in it. You don’t having to worry about sharpening, because the pencil is retractable. The price was what stopped me from buying a few more.
