Lakme brand used to be synonymous with my mother’s makeup back when I was a kid. In fact even today she owns just two lipsticks from this brand and nothing else. That constitutes her entire makeup. When I was growing up, I remember getting the Lakme compact and its glosses which made me feel super good in front of my nerdy cousins. Over a period of time, this brand launched new ranges and new products. Since this brand has memories attached to it, I always end up buying something or the other from the Lakme counter whenever I go to shop. Read on further to know about the lipstick which I got 6 months back when it was amongst the newly launched shades.
Enriched with Vitamin E & Wheat Oil, Lakme Absolute Lip Colour keeps your lips soft, smooth and silky with every application. Its non drying creamy formula keeps the lips hydrated with a matte finish.

My Take on Lakme Absolute Matte Lip Color – 219 Peach Love:
Packaging: These come in the usual Lakme Absolute grey metallic casing with a sleek tall bullet inside. The cap clicks shut tight. The shade name and number is imprinted on the sticker at the bottom of the lipstick. I find the packaging to be simple and boring. At least they could have colour coded the stickers. I don’t remember the shade names and numbers and every time I have to open up this lipstick to see if I want to apply the shade or not.
Shade: It is a peachy pink shade which looked good when I swatched it on my hand but on my lips it looked horrible. It kind of washed me out. It is more of a pastel pink shade on the lips.
Texture/ Finish: It is a matte lipstick but glides on smoothly owing to a soft and buttery texture. In fact when I applied a slight pressure it crumbled from the edges, however there is no need to apply any pressure. It does not tug or pull the lips. The finish is semi matte and after 15 minutes, it sets to a completely matte finish. It did make my lips drier (not dehydrated though) and I had to use it with a lip balm underneath. Once set, it does not easily budge off for a good 4-5 hours. It can survive snacks and with the meal, it fades evenly. It does accentuate the fine lines so proper exfoliation of the lips is a must.
Pigmentation: What you see in the lip swatch is 3 swipes on the lips. It is not adequately pigmented and if you put multiple swipes, it might start looking cakey, so you have to be careful about when to stop.
Fragrance: There is a mild vanilla fragrance which is very much like a caramel vanilla candy. Thank god that the smell is not as bothersome as the one found in the Enrich range. The fragrance becomes milder in half an hour or so.
Pros of Lakme Absolute Matte Lip Color – 219 Peach Love:
- Has a soft, buttery texture. Glides on easily on to lips.
- Feels light on the lips.
- Easily available.
- Stays on for 4-5 hours.
- Non bothersome mild vanilla fragrance
Cons of Lakme Absolute Matte Lip Color – 219 Peach Love:
- This particular shade washed me out.
- Has a tendency to accentuate fine lines. Exfoliation is a must.
- During winters, it could be over drying when lips need extra moisture.
- Packaging needs to be improved.
- Might crumble so it’s better to use it with a light hand.
Would I repurchase/recommend Lakme Absolute Matte Lip Color – 219 Peach Love?
No, I won’t repurchase. I won’t even recommend this. I find it uncanny as to how can the shade look so different when swatched on the hands and when applied on to the lips.
