Lakme Absolute Matte Lipstick:Winter Lily
Last month I thought of picking up some nice Lakme Absolute stuff that might have gone unnoticed. Hence I picked up some lippies and glosses, all of which I am not floored about but finding them quite above average and hence the review,the products are obviously overpriced and old wine in a new bottle sometimes.
This lippy range is named matte, I would say they are matte in the finish but they have shimmer, frost pearl finishes as well.This one for instance has a duochrome frost pearl finish with no obvious shimmer to it, but it has that pinky-mauve color that changes when light falls on it.
The texture is more like a thick hard creamy but swipes on well and comes out like a nude lipstick, the shade has to be built up if you want some color to it. The shade has tones of pink and mauve also has a pearly finish.
The finish is dry, it sets to matte finish and does not budge, it stays put and does not transer at all and also stays for long since it sets, in this respect I quite like it. Apart from the staying power, I find it extremely drying honesltly, I have always found Lakme lippies that set, quite drying.
The packaging is also quite mundane, its a regular grey silver which I think is no better than the previous Lakme packaging. The lock is a click lock one which makes it good enough to carry.
The lipstick is soft enough and then sets, to get some color you will need more swipes, but this one could look quite natural in case you are looking for a light lipstick for everyday wear.
The pricing has been increased from Rs. 375 to 395 which I think would make us think twice about buying this over other brands but honestly the USP of this range is the finish and that it sets after application making it a long-wearing lip color. Apart from this, I find it quite drying, considering the winters now.
